After an initial glitch, the Censor Board has finally awarded PG certificate to Nawal Khadka‘s movie ‘Bhimdutta’. The movie directed by Himgyap Lama features Nawal as a revolutionary leader, Bhimdutta Pant of Dadeldhura.
The biographical movie made on a historical context features Nawal Khadka, Nisha Adhikari, and Sumina Ghimire in leading roles. The film makers had organized a protest press meet when the Board took time in awarding the censor clearance certificate.
The makers of ‘Jholey’ tried to take advantage of the popularity of ‘Jhola’ by releasing a press statement telling viewers not to confuse ‘Jhola’ for ‘Jholey’. The truth – nobody was really confused until they told so! ‘Jhola’ is a great movie in itself and it didn’t need some copycat (taking ‘Jhola’ director’s word that the movie was conceived 7 years ago) to promote it.
Actress Rejina Upreti is getting married to her long time boyfriend Suraj Pokharel on February 22 in Kathmandu.
It has been some time since the relationship between UK resident boyfriend of Rejina Upreti, Suraj Pokharel. Last year, they were supposed to get married while Rejina was in UK to show her movie ‘Bardaan’ but, she returned back to Nepal without getting married.
Now, Rejina has confirmed the marriage of the two by distributing the marriage invitation card. After two weeks of the marriage Rejina and Suraj will return back to London. After getting married Rejina is expected to stop acting and start a beauty parlor business.
Actress Namrata Shrestha is going to be featured opposite to a popular rap artist, Lahure (Ashish Rana) in an upcoming movie ‘Tandav’. The movie to be directed by Murray Kerr, a British national running a visual effects company in Nepal. The movie was announced in a program held on February 19, 2014.
The movie is being produced by Mohan Dotel under the production company of ‘Badhshala’, Smashing Apple. In addition to Namrata and Ashish, Anup Baral, Beepin Karki, Alan Gurung and some foreign artists will also be featured in the movie.
One more movie theater, Purnima Cinema Hall has closed down in Pokhara. The theater was closed when the volume of viewers reduced by a large number. The theater used to feature Nepali movies and was run by producer and distributor Hari Baral.
Hari Baral expects to start the theater after a couple of months. Established in 2037 BS, the movie theater is one of the main film hall in the city. In the past three other theaters had closed down.
Nepali movie ‘Jholey’ was said to be the single release on February 21 but, in the last moment a Biraj Bhatt movie ‘Samrat’ is going to compete with the dark comedy movie. The news of the release ‘Samrat’ was confirmed on Tuesday.
‘Samrat’ is an action movie made in Bhojpuri and is also released in Nepali. With Biraj, the movie features Bhojpuri actress Ruby Singh. The movie is being distributed by Sunil Manandhar. The movie made under the banner of Shreeram Balaji Films is presented by Suraj Khadka. Being busy in Bhojpuri movies, Biraj has stopped doing any new Nepali movies. The success or failure of this movie will determine if Biraj is still popular among Nepali audience.
The Censor Board has decided to do a detailed review of the movie before letting it screen in theater. The Board chief Umakant Parajuli has told that the involvement of the Army and Indian government in the killing of Bhimdutta has to be researched and verified before the movies is allowed to release.
Nepali actress, Usha Poudel, is going to debut in a Bollywood movie ‘Sun Ladki’. The actress who started as a television actress in Nepal and was featured in Nepali movies like ‘Muna Madan’ was struggling in Mumbai for last few years.
The pre-production of ‘Sun Ladki’ has completed and is going to floor soon. In the movie, Usha’s role will not be the leading actress but next to the leading one. If the movie becomes successful, there is a high chance that Usha might establish herself as a Bollywood star. The rumor about Usha doing the Bollywood the movie started last year.
Nepali movie ‘Jhola’ is a movie made on a popular book by the same name by literary figure, Krishna Dharabasi. The plot set on the Nepali society of the time about a century ago. The movie directed by Yadav Kumar Bhattarai features Garima Pant, Desh Bhakta Khanal, Deepak Chhetri, Laxmi Giri, Pralhad Khatiwada etc. in main roles. The movie made on the banner of Media for Culture Pvt. Ltd. was made after an extensive research on the topic for about 7 years. Based on the novel, late Deepak Alok had written the script of the movie – keeping the core of the book intact. The movie can be categorized as a historical art movie.
Story
The movie presents the height of violence against women in ancient Nepal – Sati tradition. In ‘Jhola’ an young woman (Garima Pant) is married to a man 40 years senior to her. When her husband dies, Garima is burned alive with the dead body of her husband. She escaped the fire and hides in a cave. You can watch the movie to know what happens to Garima and how her underage son helps her.
Actress Sushma Karki celebrates her birthday on the Valentine Day, February 14. This year, she celebrated her birthday in the restaurant business she has recently started in Thamel, Kathmandu.
Sushma Karki is not doing any new movies and she is waiting for the movie of a good banner and good story. Sushma says, she couldn’t raise because of working in the movies ‘with producer as the lead actor’. It has only been a few months since Sushma started the restaurant in Thamel.
In a latest news, the celebrity couple Namrata Shrestha and Prem Ghale are no longer seeing each other. In a report, it has been few months they have separated, probably at around Tihar festival.
Namrata was seen with Ghale in the premiers of ‘Mero Love Story’ and ‘Acharya’. We wrote about the rumor in October of 2011.
In an interview with an online magazine, actress Rekha Thapa has told that she was having an affair with an unknown lover, while she was married to Chhabi Raj Ojha.
Rekha said that the affair was a love at the first meet.
Once again, Rajesh Hamal marriage has been delayed. In a latest report, Rajesh told that his marriage is postponed for now. A while ago, Rajesh had told that the marriage will be held in February – March of 2014 (watch the attached video).
Initially, Rajesh had wanted to get married in 2010. Due to various reasons, the marriage had been delayed multiple times. Last year, Rajesh had told that he will not delay more than the winter. But, when his family member couldn’t gather in Kathmandu in the Feb/March schedule, he has to delay the marriage again.
