Nepali Artists Dashain in foreign countires

Wherever people go, they take their culture with them. Nepali people are no exception. Nepal people all over the world celebrated Dashain Tika on October 22, 2015. I shared some photos of Nepali artists celebrating Dashain in my previous post. Now, it is time to share photos of Dashain celebration in places out of Nepal. Although, every Nepali have celebrated Dashain, I will only share photos of Nepali artists. This post will be updated if I find more artists celebrating Dashain in countries other than Nepal.

Prakriti Shrestha, Nepali actress in Australia

Nepali actress Prakriti Shrestha had gone to Australia after marrying Sudeep Neupane in July of 2014. The ‘Hostel’ actress was considered one of the new actresses with a lot of potential in Nepali film industry. But, Prakriti quietly married and left the country. (Watch ‘Hostel’ here)

Karishma Manandhar organized a Dashain party in spite of gas shortage

Actress Karishma Manandhar has organized a Dashain party in her residence in spite of gas shortage. Karishma shared a photo of her cooking food in traditional way, using firewood. Because of the economic blockage by India, Nepal has been facing acute shortage of cooking gas and vehicle fuel. Transportation and celebration has been quite tough because of the lack of vehicle fuel and cooking gas.

There is a film studio in Karishma’s residence in Godawari, Lalitpur. In the photo Karishma shared Karishma is seen cooking food in one of the studios by constructing the traditional fire wood stove. In the photo posted above, Karishma has also added a smiley to indicate the irony of the situation.

Namrata Shrestha seen with boyfriend in Adhakatti premier show ?

Actress Namrata Shrestha was seen with a guy named Dawa Sherpa in the premier show of ‘Adhakatti’. The premier show held on Monday at Kumari theater in Kathamndu on October 19 featured traditional panche baja and a score of artists and well known personality.

‘Adhakatti’ features Namrata Shrestha in cameo role and she has done an item dance on the song made on her own name. Although Namrata didn’t publicly told that Dawa Sherpa was her boyfriend, there were rumor that the guy is Namrata’s new boyfriend.

Initially Namrata was rumored to be seeing actor Raymon Das Shrestha. Their affair remained a mystery as neither of them confirmed it.

Top 5 nominations in D Cine Award 2015 (Full list)

The nominations for the upcoming movie award, D Cine Award has been released. The 7th edition of the cinema award is one of the many Nepali film awards being held by various organizations. The Award has teamed up with CG (Chaudhary Group, the business organization of Binod Chaudhary) this year to rename it LG D Cine Award 2072. The award ceremony is scheduled to be held in Mangsir month.

The nomination list is prepared from the movies released in the year 2071 BS. There will be 38 different categories of the award in the award ceremony. The award organizer has told that most of the 82 movies released in the year have participated in the award.

The jury members of the Award ceremony are writer and director Mohan Niraula, journalist and director Bijayaratna Tuladhar, musician Santosh Shrestha, and the first female cinematographer of Nepal Sabanam Mukhiya. Three movies out of the 5 nominations for best movies are available to watch in xnepali.

At xnepali, when we talk about tattoo, it’s tattoo on the body of Nepali artists. Once we posted some tattoo photos of true geeks. Now that is the past. The geekiest tattoo on Nepali artists might be that of actress Arunima Lama. Arunima Lama was featured as a nude model in the movie ‘Kina Kina’. The movie features two tattooed actresses – Arunima and actress Karishma Manandhar (you can watch ‘Kina Kina’ here).

Nischal Basnet debuts as a singer in Kabaddi Kabaddi, and he is good!

The director of the super hit movies ‘Loot’ and ‘Talakjung Vs Tulke’, and noted actor of movies like ‘Kabaddi’, Nischal Basnet has debuted as a singer in his upcoming movie ‘Kabaddi Kabaddi’. Unlike most of other actors/actresses who have given voices to songs, Nischal is as good as a professional singer. May be it is the magic of the music composer Kali Prasad Baskota but, after listening to the song, one can be sure that Nischal has a potential of being a singer.

The sequel of ‘Kabaddi’, Ram Babu Gurung’s directorial venture, ‘Kabaddi Kabaddi’ is in post production phase. The story of a remote village in Mustang tries to replicate the success of ‘Kabaddi’ and is one of the awaited movies of the current time. The movie features Dayahang Rai, Saugat Malla, Nischal Basnet and Rishma Gurung in main roles. Actor Saugat Malla is a new addition to the characters to the ‘Kabaddi’ team. The romantic comedy movie is fully shot in Mustang. The movie is jointly produced by Nischal Basnet and Sunil Chand Rauniyar under Black Horse Pictures banner.

Congratulation Nisha Adhikari, Mount Kilimanjaro

Nisha celebrated her birthday (on October 4) while climbing the highest peak in Africa, Mount Kilimanjaro. She has successfully summited the 5756m peak in Tanzania and raised the Nepali flag on top of it and has returned back to Moshi to share the her photos at the peak.

In a Facebook message, Nisha wrote, “FINALLY!!! I summited â€ª#â€ŽUhuruâ€¬ peak at 7 a.m. There was no one around, just me and this gentle soul Abayay. My flag, camera and banners were in a bag pack with a guide and he was nowhere to be seen. We waited for about 15 min freezing and suddenly two figures appeared from the mist. I instantly asked the lady to take a pic of mine there. She wonderfully agreed! So there she was and her guide taking my picture. I thanked her and left as quickly as I couldâ€¦” In the long message Nisha talks about meeting fellow mountaineers and the being a proud Nepali. In another post, she has expressed her happiness and the feeling of being proud to be able to live her dreams.

We Will Rise charity event held in Hong Kong

A charity program titled ‘We will rise’ was held in Hong Kong recently. The program to help raise fund for earthquake relief was a successful and entertaining program in Hong Kong.

For the first time after returning back from the USA, actor Saroj Khanal went on a stage show in a foreign soil. He had performed with actress Karishma Manandhar in a musical titled ‘Priyasika Yaadharu’. Saroj and Sarita Giri performed in a play titled ‘Hamro Aawaz’. Actress Sushma Karki had danced in ‘himallai Dhakyo Kanchhaâ€¦’

Shristi Shrestha to debut in theater, as Ophelia

The Miss Nepal 2012, Shristi Shrestha, is going to debut in theater in Shakespeare’s play ‘Hamlet. Shristi will be featured as the character Ophelia in the play. The play in is being played in association with the British Council, Theater Village and the British Embassy in Kathmandu.

The play in Nepali language is directed by Gregory Thompson in association with Bimal Subedi. The play is going to start at the Bhaktapur Durbar Square on October 12, 2015 at 6:00 PM. The regular shows of the play will start on December 17, 2015 till January 11, 2016 at Theater Village.

Reema Bishowkarma couple donated honeymoon fund for film artists welfare

Actress and model Reema Bishowkarma and her newly wed husband Robert Bishwokarma have donated the fund they had set aside for the honeymoon trip to the Film Artists Welfare Fund of Film Development Board (FDB). Reema and Robert handed over the fund to actress Jharana Thapa, the coordinator of the Film Welfare Fund, in an event in Kathmandu.

Reema and Robert were planning to go to Maldives or Paris for honeymoon. As the honeymoon plan was canceled for now, they decided to donate the amount for good cause. Jharana was recently appointed to coordinate the social wing of FDB. In the fund handing over ceremony, Reema’s husband Robert was also with her.

600 episodes of Tito Satya, Woda Number Chha released out of Kathmandu

Popular comedy serial ‘Tito Satya’ has celebrated its 600th episode on Thursday, October 1, 2015. It has been 12 years since the weekly comedy serial started its tele-cast in Nepal Television. In the past 12-years the theme of the serial was similar – making fun of the current events and portraying the life of a typical resident of Kathmandu. Because of Kathmandu focus of the serial, the serial wasn’t less popular in places out of the valley. Another similar serial ‘Meri Bassai’ was more of the life in villages and was popular among the people from villages. These two and another serial ‘Jire Khursani’ had been quite popular in Nepal Television for a long time. A new comedy serial ‘Bhadragol’ has also gained a lot of popularity these days.

The director and the writer of the serial, Deepak Raj Giri has realized the theme being the same for a dozen years and has promised to change it for the betterment in coming days. Starting this week, Deepak is planning to change the artists, story, style and the message. Deepak told that he will introduce new artists and Deepak will appear less in the future episodes.

Nisha Adhikari to climb Kilimanjaro mountain in October

The first Nepali actress to climb Mt. Everest, Nisha Adhikari, has announced her next climb – Mt. Kilimanjaro mountain, the highest peak in Africa. Nisha is going to Africa on September 30 to start the ascent on October 1. According to Nisha’s schedule, she will reach the peak on October 9, 2015.

Nisha is planning to take the National Flag of Nepal to the top of Kilimanjaro. It is the same flag that Nisha had taken to the top of Mt. Everest. With the Nepal’s flag, Nisha will also take the flag of the Nepali Artists Association to the top.

In a press meet organized in Kathmandu, Nisha told that she represents Nepal to climb the mountain. In the press meet artists like Krishna Malla, Rabindra Khadka, Nawal Khadka, Yogendra Khadka and Laxmi Giri were present.

Mount Kilimanjaro

Kilimanjaro mountain is a volcanic mountain located in Tanzania. The highest mountain in Africa is 5,895 meters (19,341 ft) above sea level. The mountain is one of the major climbing destinations in the world. The first recorded climber of the mountain were Hans Meyer and Ludwig Purtscheller who reached the peak in 1889.

Actress Reema Bishowkarma marries a UK NRN

Actress Reema Bishowkarma has married her lover of a year, Robert Lungun Bishowkarma in a ceremony held at Hotel Hyatt in Bouddha, Kathmandu. The event was held on September 27, 2015 among the friends and family of the bride and the groom. Reema and Robert had secretly engaged and the news of the marriage was unveiled a couple of days earlier to the actual event.

Reema’s movie ‘Bhale Fight’ was released on Friday and she was busy in the promotion of the movie days before the marriage. Reema had chosen the movie’s release date to introduce her husband to the media. Reema and Robert have promised that Reema will continue to work in entertainment sector even after the marriage.

The couple have invited their friends and family in the evening for a reception party.

NEFTA Awards – winners (full list, video)

BesLike previous years the Nepali film awards by the association of Nepali film technicians, NEFTA, was held in foreign soil. This year’s award ceremony was held in Qatar. In the ceremony held among 8,000 audience award on various categories were handed over to the winners. Winning 5 different awards, ‘Talakjung Vs. Tulke’ became the best movie this year.
