Dilip Rayamajhi, Sagun Shahi and Sujana Dhakal to be featured in Nalapani

Actor Dilip Rayamajhi is told to be returning back to Nepal from the USA to act in upcoming movie ‘Nalapani’. The movie is scheduled to start the shooting on September 9 (Bhadra 23). Dilip had recently headed to the USA after receiving the permanent resident status, Green Card. Although there are rumors that he won’t return back to Nepal, he has insisted that he would continue to act in Nepali movies.

In addition to Dilip, actress Sagun Shahi and actress Suzana Dhakal are going to be featured in a historical. The movie to be made on the war of Nalapani against British colonial power has been one of the bravest war Nepali had fought in the history. The movie written and directed by Shivam Adhimari is being produced by Rimesh Adhikari under Padma Kumari Films banner.

After Bhuwan KC, his ex-wife Sushmita to debut as a director

Actress Sushma KC (Bomjom) has decided to jump into direction. The timing of the announcement has come right after her ex-husband and the father of her son Anmol KC, actor and producer, Bhuwan KC has started directing his debut movie. There are rumors that Sushmita wants to challenge Bhuwan by showing that she can also direct movies.

In response to the rumor, Sushmita has written a lengthy message in her Facebook profile explaining that she has no intention of competing with Bhuwan KC. In addition to being the father of her son, she has also told that she respect Bhuwan as her acting and movie making teacher. Full message is attached below.

Keki Adhikari flies to the USA

Actress Keki Adhikari, director Suresh Darpan Pokharel have gone to he USA to participate in the Festival of Globe (FOG) or San Francisco Global Movie Fest. Actresses Poozana Pradhan (Poojana Pradhan) and Nandita KC are also going to participate in the festival. Poozana is currently in Hong Kong and Nandita is already in the USA.

According to the organizer’s website Nepali participants in the festival are Nandita KC, Suman Bista, Keki, and Poozana. The narrative feature films participating in the festival from Nepal include ‘Tulsi’ and ‘Chocolate’. Narrative short films include ‘Sacrifice Never Die’, ‘Tata Bye Bye’ and ‘Tulsi’.

National Film Award, Kabaddi Best Film, Dayahang, Sangam Bista and Richa Sharma best actors

The president Ram Baran Yadav awarded the National Films Award 2015 in an even held at the President’s place, Shital Niwas, on July 28. In the ceremony ‘Kabaddi’ was awarded the Best Movie Award (watch ‘Kabaddi’ here). Actor Dayahang Rai was awarded the Best Actor (male) award for his role in the movie ‘Sambodhan’. Actress Richa Sharma and Sangam Bista  were awarded the Best Actress Award for their role in ‘Talakjung VS Tulke’ and ‘Love You Baba’ respectively.

Nischal Basnet was awarded the best director’s award for his work in ‘Talakjung VS Tulke’. The Best Cinematographer award was awarded to Shailendra Dhoj Karki for his work in ‘Zhigrana’ and Nimesh Shrestha was awarded the Best Editor award for the same movie. The movie ‘Matan’ was awarded the best movie in ethnic films category. ‘Kabaddi’ writers Rambabu Gurung and Upendra Subba were also awarded in the ceremony.

Why did Rekha Thapa go to Pashupati right after arrival from USA?

After more than two months in the USA, actress Rekha Thapa has arrived in Kathmandu on Monday, July 27. Right after the arrival in Kathmandu, Rekha went to Pashupati to worship lord Shiva. Rekha also shared some photos of herself in front of the Pashupati gate.

Explain the reason of the visit Rekha says that it was a “religious coincidence.” It is Shrawan month and every Monday’s of Shrawan month are considered holy, specially by women. Women flock to lord Shiva temple on every Mondays of Shrawan.

In a Facebook status post, previous adult film star of Hollywood and the current Bollywood sensation, Sunny Leone, has said that she is ‘working on something special for Nepal … ‎#getsexy‬ see you soon Nepal xoxo’. She hasn’t given any further clue on what her plans are.

Namrata, Rajesh Hamal, Karishma lobbying for elected chief of state in the constitution

Youths and film artists have teamed for lobbying for the elected chief of the state in the new constitution. Actress Namrata Shrestha had participated in a student meet organized in Institute of Engineering, Pulchowk Campus on Monday. A group of youths along with Namrata has been actively campaigning for the provision in the constitution. In addition to elected chief, Namrata is also supporting religious freedom.

Actor Rajesh Hamal and actress Karishma Manandhar have also supported elected chief. In a political meet organized on Saturday, the artists have highlighted the importance of an elected Prime Minister. Actor Hamal told that he believes in the Presidential rule. Karishma recalled the governments formed after the 2046 BS change.

Dilip Rayamajhi flies to the USA with his wife and daughter

Nepali superstar actor Dilip Rayamajhi has flown to the USA on Saturday night. It has been six months Dilip had obtained the US green card. Folk singer Prem Raja Mahat is going to receive Dilip his wife and his daughter in Baltimore. He is planning to live in Baltimore fore some time. His daughter, Divya Rayamajhi, is planning to enroll in an university soon after the arrival. According to report, Dilip is ready to purchase a house and a car upon arrival.

Rekha Thapa to return back to Nepal to start Rampyari

In a recent report, actress Rekha Thapa has ‘cut short’ her US travel to return back to Nepal on July 27. Rekha is returning back to start the shooting of her upcoming movie ‘Rampyari’.

In response to the cancelation of her scheduled visit to Malaysia, Rekha has told that she will not participate in any program organized to help earthquake victims. She also told that she has also canceled the Dubai program for the same reason.

Rekha has told that she had gone to the USA for fund raising for her foundation, Rekah Thapa Foundation. She has said that some organizations had invited her for fund raising programs in the USA. But, her statement is very suspicious as there were no news of any fund raising programs involving Rekha Thapa. Because of the secrecy and the controversial statements before going to the USA, a question was raised if Rekha will return back from the USA.

Namrata Shrestha campaigns for elected PM and President

Actress Namrata Shrestha and other youths in Nepali film industry have campaigned to add a provision in the new constitution. The youths have realized that the current provision of the parliament to choose the Prime Minister and President has failed in the past. So, their demand is to let the general citizen to choose the leader of the country by an election.

For the inclusion of the provision, the team has started a campaign to collect 10,000 signatures. The signature and the suggestion will be handed over to the concerned authority. Talking in the press meet to announce the campaign, Namrata told that the citizen should be made powerful by letting them elect their leader.

Dikpal Karki and Manjita KC replace Nikhil Upreti and Sanchita in Champion

The shooting of the upcoming movie ‘Champion’ has started in Kathmandu. The movie being made on the story of cricket player was initially supposed to feature Nikhil Upreti in leading role. We wrote about Nikhil and Sanchita Luitel to be featured together in the movie. Now, at the time of shooting, Nikhil couldn’t set aside the time for the movie and the film production team had to find another actor in his place.

According to the producer, Nikhil wasn’t familiar with cricket game and because of the promotion of his comeback movie ‘Bhairav’ he didn’t have enough time for cricket lesson. The production team has chosen ‘Rang Baijani’ debut actor Dikpal Karki to do the leading role. After being selected for the role, Dikpal has learnt and practice cricket for a long time.

Rekha Thapa breaks Malaysia promise for the third time, Karishma replaces her

It has been three times Rekha Thapa has missed participating in the cultural program organized by Nepali living in Malaysia. This year, Rekha had promised to participate in the Friendship Dhamaka 2015 but cancels her participation as the time nears.

Last year, in 2014, Rekha didn’t go to Malaysia to participate in the NEFTA Award at the last minute. According to reports, Rekha didn’t go when bargaining for the Best Actress Award failed.

In 2013, Rekha didn’t go to ‘Remix Dhamaka 5’ as promised. Rekha was highly criticized and the organizers were very worried for Rekha’s irresponsible behavior.

Now, it has been a hat-rick of Rekha’s being irresponsible to the Nepali people in Malaysia three years in row. Will they forgive her, only time will tell. Now, the organizers are greteful to actress Karishma Manandhar for agreeing to participate in the program in place of Rekha.

Television artists honored in National Television Award 2072

An award ceremony was held in Kathmandu on July 12 to award television artists. The ceremony was held to distribute National Television Award 2072 to the TV programs and their producers. In addition to the award, the program also featured cultural program including songs, dances and comedy programs.

Actor, producer and director Nir Shah was honored by the Lifetime Achievement Award of value Rs. 1,11,111. Minister Minendra Rijal had handed over the award to Shah. Shah dedicated the award to all the television related personnel. Current chief of Nepal Television, Nir Shah, was also instrumental in starting and leading Nepal Television in its initial days.

Sagun Shahi featured as an item girl in Kaamchor

The popular model of music video and ‘Dhuwani’ debut actress Sagun Shahi was seen in the sets of upcoming movie ‘Kaamchor’. The actress is featured in an item song of the movie. The movie directed by Dinesh Shrestha  was previously scheduled to release on May 15 (Jestha 1). After the earthquake of April 25, the movie is re-scheduled to release on August 25 (Ashoj 8). Dinesh is debuting as a director in Nepali film industry with his movie.

Because of the earthquake the movie release date is re-scheduled for Ashoj 8. The item song is a new addition to the movie.

Tattoo, Suvekshya Thapa draws Nepali flag on top of her heart

After Karishma Manandhar and Sushma Karki, actress Suvekchya Thapa has also added a tattoo on her chest. While Karishma has a tattoo of a rose on the top of her left breast, Sushma has an image of the sun, Suvekshya has chosen two Nepali flag to show her love for the country. (we had also compared Sushma and Karishma’s tattoos)

In addition to two crossed Nepali flags, she has also written ‘I love Nepal’ all in capital.

It is to be noted, in Suvekshya’s latest film ‘Bindaas 3’ she has replaced the actress with tattoo on breast, Sushma Karki. The tattoo of Sushma had also created controversy during the release of ‘Bindaas 2’.  In a question if the tottoo was the requirement of the story of the movie, Suvekshya told that it was not. She told, “I had always wanted to have a tattoo.” ‘Bindaas 3’ is releasing on October 3.
