Friday Release – Ma Ta Timrai Hoon

The debut movie of actress Sushmita KC as a producer, ‘Ma Ta Timrai Hoon’ is the sole release this week on theatre. After divorcing Bhuwan KC Sushmita KC has registered a film production company named Anmol Creations. The first movie made in the banner named after the hit actor Anmol KC has released in theatre on July 22, 2016.

Although made under the banner named after Anmol KC, the movie doesn’t feature the actor himself. It features Aakash Shrestha, Jyotsna Yogi, Sushmita KC, Jiwan Bhattarai, Susan Khadka, Anupam Shrestha, Sushil Kafle etc. In a press event held recently, Anmol told that he wasn’t considered while writing the story of the movie. He told, Aakash Shrestha fits more to the character than himself. Aakash and Jyotsna are debuting in the film industry through this movie.  Continue reading

Friday Release – Namaste Nepal and Jism

On Friday, July 15, 2016 two Nepali movies ‘Namaste Nepal’ and ‘Jism’ have released in theatres all over Nepal. Both of the movies are directed by Raju – one by Raju Shah and other by Raju Giri.

The movie is directed by Raju Shah. ‘Namaste Nepal’ features Sabin Shrestha, Anuja Pradhan, and a number of Belgian artists.

The movie made under Dwarika Uday Production is produced jointly by Pradeep Kumar Uday, Mandira Shrestha and Sriju Shah. The script of the movie is written by the director Raju Shah and Gopal Dhakal ‘Chhande’. The movie features the music of Om Sunar, Basanta Sapkota and Riyaj Siwakoti. The cinematographer of Dibya Raj Subedi.

The movie ‘Namaste Nepal’ is special as the movie is shot in European countries like France, Belgium, and Germany.

Friday Release – Teen Ghumti, Lale, Anmol Kshan, Surya The Power

There were four new Nepali movies released in theaters in Nepal on July 1, 2016. Out of the four only one was well known movies and others were unheard of. The movie ‘Teen Ghumti’ – based on BP Koirala novels, ‘Anmok Kshan’ a production of Sikkim based Nepali, ‘Lale’ and ‘Surya The Power’. Very few viewers turned in to theatre as the climate in Kathmandu was rainy on Friday.

The movie ‘Teen Ghumti’ is a movie made on the story of the novel by BP Koirala. The movie produced by karma Production is presented by Rakesh Adukia. The movie was inagurated by late prime minster Sushil Koirala.

The movie is about the characters of a woman in three different roles – as a wife, as a girlfriend and as a mother. The movie features the ‘Jhola’ actress Garima Pant in leading role. The movie directed by Baburam Dhakal features Dhruba Dutta and Sushant Karki with Garima.

Friday Release – Lukamari

This week, on June 24, 2016, Nepali movie ‘Lukamari’ is the solo release. The movie on the story of a tenant in a Kathmandu home, ‘Lukamari’ is a suspense comedy movie. The actor Saugat Malla is featured in the role of a Madhesi guy. Actor Karma Shakya is featured in the role of the son of the home owner. Actress Surabina Karki is featured in the role of another tenant.

The appearance of Saugat Malla and Karma had been popular even before the release of the movie. Saugat is featured as a Madheshi youth with crooked eyes and Karma is a typical Newar guy of Kathmandu and he has yellow hair. The movie directed by Shree Ram Dahal features Saugat Malla with Bikram Singh Tharu, Karma Shakya, Surabina Karki, Rista Basnet, Krishna Bhakta Maharjan and others.

Friday release, Gajalu

This week, on June 10, 2016, one of the most awaited movies, ‘Gajalu’ has released in theater. The movie directed Hemraj BC features Miss Nepal 2012, Shristi Shrestha, Anmol KC, Salon Basnet, Gaurav Pahadi, Menuka Paradhan in leading roles. The movie produced by Rohit Basnet is made on the story of the living goddess ‘Kumari’ tradition in Nepal.

Shristi Shrestha is featured as an ex-Kumari in the movie. The premier show of the movie was held in Kathmandu on Thursday. The lead actor Anmol KC didn’t attend the UK premier show of the movie but was present in the Nepal premier show with his father Bhuwan KC.  Continue reading

Friday Release – Kalo Pothi and Chhesko

Two new Nepali movies ‘Kalo Pothi’ and ‘Chhesko’ have released in theater on June 3, 2016. The moves are targeted to different types of viewers. ‘Chhesko’ introduces Archana Paneru in Nepali movie industry and is targeted to the viewers who are looking for glamour in the movies. In the other hand ‘Kalo Pothi’ is targeted to the serious viewers who want quality story and story presentation.

The movie ‘Kalo Pothi’ is an award winning movie that had participated in a lot of film festivals and had won various awards. Starting with the script (script had won Rs. 5.5 million) the movie was selected in various prestigious film festivals including Busan Film Festival and Venice Film Festival. ‘Kalo Pothi’ is directed by Min Bahadur Bham and features Sukra Raj Rokya, Khadka Raj Nepali, Jit Bahadur Malla, Hansha Khadka, Benisha Hamal, Bipin Karki and others. The script of the movie is written by Abinash Bikram Shah and Min Bahadur Bham.

Friday Release Kina Garen Maya and Action

Two movies were released last Friday (I am a couple of days late this week to update on the Friday release). The movie released this week (on May 27, 2016) were director Ramesh Bogati’s movie ‘Kina Garen Maya’ and director Raju Aryal’s movie ‘Action’.

The movie ‘Action’ directed by Raju Aryal features the actor who used to be known by the title Angry Young Man, Shiva Shrestha. Although pretty old for the role, he is again featured in action role in the movie released last Friday. The movie features the clash of two different generations. The leader of the first generation is Shiva Shrestha and the second generation is represented by Pramod Deep. Actress Jenisha KC is also featured in leading role in the movie.

Friday Release – Buddha Born in Nepal and Homework

Two new Nepali movies are releasing in theaters in Nepal today, on May 20, 2016 – ‘Homework’ and ‘Buddha Born in Nepal’. The movie about Buddha, is a presentation of actor Ramit Dhungana and another movie ‘Homework’ is a Gopi Krishna movies presentation.

Friday Release – Ke Ma Timro Hoina Ra and Birano Maya

The new releases of Nepali movies this week, on May 13, 2016 (Baisakh 31, 2073) are Aakash Adhikari presentation movie ‘Ke Ma Timro Hoina Ra’ and ‘Birano Maya’. The movie directed by Aakash Adhikari introduces actor Aryan Adhikari and actress Marika Pokharel in the nepali movie industry. The movie also features Gauri Malla, Mithila Sharma, Prajwal Sujal Giri, Suren Basel and others.

The movie ‘Ke Ma Timro Hoina Ra’ features the action of Himal KC, choreography of Renasha Rai and Basanta Shrestha. The editors of the movie are Arjun GC and Bhupendra Adhikari. The producer is Suresh Adhikari.  The movie is made jointly under Adhikari Brothers Pictures and the Sky Movies banners.

Friday Release – Uhile Bajeko Palama, Aawara and Rolpa Rog (with trailers)

Three new Nepali movies are releasing on theater on Friday, May 6, 2016. The movie made on the Maoist civil war, ‘Rolpa Rog’, an ancient story movie ‘Uhile Bajeko Palama’ and a social drama movie ‘Aawara’ have released in theater today.

Friday Release – Junge and Baazigar

Two new Nepali movies were released in theater on Friday, April 29, 2016. Both Suraj Singh Thakuri starrer ‘Junge’ and Jiwan Luitel starrer ‘Baazigar’ are action movies – one targeted to the multiplex viewers and another to the single theater viewers respectively.

The movie featuring Suraj Singh Thakuri and Richa Sharma in leading role is considered an awaited movie because of the trailer, star cast and film making style. Other notable actors in the move are Anup Baral and Dipasikha Shahi. The content and style scene in the trailer had been appreciated. Actress Richa is featured as a hot queen – in negative role. More details on ‘Junge’ the movie was posted earlier.

‘Junge’ is directed by Utkal Thapa. The cinematographer is Susan Prajapati, Subash Koirala has written the script and the dialogue is written bySS Agraj. The movie is about Junga Bahadur Rana in the present political context. There is another movie by the same name, featuring Melina Manandhar in leading role – Watch ‘Junge’ here.

Friday Release – How Funny and Bato Muniko Phool 2

Two new Nepali movies have released in theater on April 22, 2016. The movies ‘Bato Muni Ko Phool 2’ and ‘How Funny’ are targeted to different targeted viewers. One is a love story movie about the issues of caste system in Nepal and another is a comedy movie.

The movie made on a love story ‘Bato Muniko Phool 2’ is produced by singer and actor Yash Kumar and is directed by Subarna Thapa. The movie features Yash Kumar, Baboo Bogati, Richa Sharma, Dilip Rayamajhi, Reema Bishowkarma, Arpan Thapa etc. in main roles. I wish xNepali readers a very happy new year 2073. On the new year, I am looking back on the movies released in 2072 BS. The year was a tragic because of the earthquake and huge amount of the loss of human and properties. The movie release and shooting were also affected for months because of the tragic event.

Note – This is only a list of top movies. These new movies aren’t yet available online. I will share the full movies when the producers make them available online.

  • DreamsAnmol KC starrer movie produced and directed by his father Bhuwan KC was superhit movie of 2072.
  • Woda Number 6 – The movie produced by ‘Tito Satya’ comedy show team – Deepak Raj Giri, Deepa Shree Niraula and Nirmal Sharma was superhit this year. It followed the last years hit release ‘Chha Ekan Chha’
  • Kabaddi Kabaddi – The sequel of superhit movie ‘Kabaddi’ was similar to the original and it also received the similar success.
  • Pardeshi – The movie made on foreign employment featuring Prashant Tamang and Rajani KC received a very good response from the viewers.
  • Pashupati Prasad – The movie featuring Khagendra Lamichane and directed by Dipendra K Khanal was liked by the viewers. The movie is unique in the fact that it doesn’t have songs and fights.
  • Prem Geet – Love story movie by director Sudarshan Thapa was also liked by viewers. The movie features Pradeep Khadka and Pooja Sharma in leading role.

Friday Release – Janmabhumi, Indrawati and Lucky 7 (with trailers)

Three new movies have released in theater on Friday – April 1, 2016. None of these movies – ‘Janmabhumi’ of Mohan Niraula, last movie of Shree Krishna Shrestha ‘Indrawati’ and ‘Lucky 7’ were promoted much in media.

A social drama movie with patriotic theme is made on the same named movie ‘Janmabhumi’ by the same director 20 years ago. The movie scheduled to release last year was delayed because of earthquake of 2015. The movie features Nishma Ghimire, Binod Shrestha, Anu Shah, Mohan Niraula etc. in main roles.
