Actress Rekha Thapa has canceled her visit to Malaysia to participate in Remix Dhamaka 5. The event had Rekha as the main attraction but, the cancelation of Rekha’s visit is expected to have a big impact in the event.

Rekha Thapa explains why she is not uneducated
Actress Rekha Thapa had wanted to head the Nepal Film Development Board (FDB), but her peers had rejected Rekha for not being competent enough. In response to her rejection, Rekha had organized the meet the press event in New York during her month-long visit to USA.
Rekha Thapa had stopped her education after SLC and she didn’t go to college. In the meet-the-press event held in New York, she told that some people call her ‘uneducated’ because of the lack of higher education. She added – those who call her uneducated are fool themselves. She called herself a knowledgeable and capable person in her profession.
Himgyap to direct Rekha Thapa’s ‘Kali’
In a press meet held in New York, USA, Rekha Thapa had announced that her upcoming movie ‘Kali’ will be directed by Himgyap Lama, Tasi. Actress Gauri Malla was also present in the press meet.
Govt. ignored protesting film artists, Pappu appointed to head FDB
The government has selected Dharmendra Kumar Marbaita, popularly known as ‘Pappu’, to head the government body to look after Nepali movies, Film Development Board (FDB). Rekha Thapa was considered one of the contestant to the post before she headed for the USA on January 23.

Rekha left for New York, USA on January 23 on a 6:00PM flight via Abu Dhabi transit (as reported earlier). Rekha told that she had stamped the visa earlier and had also purchased the ticket. But, the decision to go on that date was finalized on Tuesday night.

The top actress in Nepali movie industry, Rekha Thapa, is flying to the USA on Wednesday, January 23. To participate in a program called ‘Namaste America’, Rekha is taking a flight at 6:00 PM.
While in USA Rekha will also shot a scene for a movie.
Hamesha to release in April
Rekha Thapa’s upcoming movie ‘Hamesha’ is scheduled to release on April 12, 2013. The movie, currently in post-production, is directed by Sabir Shrestha and is produced by Chhabi raj Ojha/Dijendra Shakya.
Jaljala to be released in Kathmandu on Jan 11
A movie made on the story of Maoist civil war in Nepal, ‘Jaljala’ is going to be released in theaters on January 11, 2012. The movie features Rekha Thapa, Aayush Rijal, Kamal Krishna, Kishor Khatiwada, and late Gopal Bhutani in main roles.

Rekha Thapa to visit USA, showing 'Lanka' in Qatar
Actress Rekha Thapa had been quite busy lately. She was recently in Dubai to take two awards of being the best actress and then went back to Nepal to receive another award of being the best actress. She is currently in Qatar to show her latest movie ‘Lanka’.
In a latest report, after she returns from Qatar, her next destination is going to be the USA.
According to DC Nepal, Rekha has already got the US visa and she will participate in various programs in the US while screening ‘Lanka’ to the Nepali living in the US.
4th Digital Film Award held in Kathmandu
A Nepali film award ceremony, 4th Filmykhabar Digital Film Award, organized by Chhaya Chhabi Creation, was held in Kathmandu on December 9, 2012. The best actor and best actress awards were handed over to Saugat Malla (for ‘Loot‘) and Rekha Thapa (for ‘Andaaz‘) respectively. Rekha’s ‘Andaaz’ was declared the best movie this year.
Other winners include Best Director – Ujjwal Ghimire for ‘Andaaz’, Best new actress – Binita Baral for ‘Chapali Height‘, Best New Actor – Samyam Puri for ‘Saayad‘. We will post the full list of winners in a separate post.
Rekha Thapa wins best actress award, again
Shiva Shrestha won the Lifetime Achievement Award
Actress Rekha Thapa was awarded the best actress award for her role in ‘Kasle Choryo Mero Man’ in Box Office Film Award 2069, held on Friday December 7, 2012 in Dubai. Rekha was also the best actress in Viewer’s Choice. Among actors, Rajesh Hamal won the Viewer’s Choice award and Aryan Sigdel won the best actor award. Producer Chhabi Raj Ojha was awarded the viewer’s choice award (producer). The best movie was declared to be ‘Bato Muni Ko Phool’. Best movie in Viewer’s Choice category was ‘First Love’. The best director award was awarded to Suraj Subba for ‘Bato Muni Ko Phool’. In the event, awards in 31 different categories were awarded.
Actor Shiva Shrestha was awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award. Other actors honored during the ceremony include actor Bhuwan KC, Suman Singh, Mohankrishna Shrestha, Madhukar Shrestha, and Sunil Manandhar.
Movie review – Lanka
Nepali movie ‘Lanka’ was the solo release on November 16, 2012. And the only Nepali movie to relase on the following week, ‘ATM’ was also banned from the theater on the accusation of trying to cheat the censor board. In that way, ‘Lanka’ was lucky to be the only Nepali movie in theater for two weeks. That was one of the reasons ‘Lanka’ has been successful so far.
Lanka is made on regular masala story of the clash of good and evil. The movie features actress Rekha Thapa in the leading role as a police officer. Kishor Khatiwada (Satya), Rekha Thapa (Saraswati Pandey) and Nandu Sribastav (Babubhai) are the main characters of the movie directed by Shayam Bhattarai.

Rekha and Chhabi Ojha posed together, patched at last?
To dilute the effects of the divorce rumor between actress Rekha Thapa and producer Chhabi Raj Ojha, Chhabi posted some photos of the two together in his Facebook. The photos were taken during the shooting of their upcoming project ‘Hamesha’ which is being produced under Chhabiraj Films, in contrast to the previous films that used to be made under Rekha Films. Chhabi registered the company after the widespread news about their divorce.
