Madan Puraskar to Jhamak Ghimire and Jagadambashree to Durgalal

Jhamak Ghimire was extra excited to receive the highest award in Nepali literature, Madan Puraskar on Thursday, September 29, 2011. She was the second woman after Parijaat, who got the prize in 1965, some 46 years ago. The Madan puraskar and Jagadamba Shree both are of Rs. 200,000 cash and certificates.

31 year-old Jhamak is disabled and had started writing literately works by her foot since she was 15 years-old.

The writer of the popular song, Dugralal Shrestha also received the Jagdamba Shree award for his contribution in Nepali/Newari language literature.

Manoj Pandit’s review and Richa Ghimire’s response to ‘illegal’ website

Background

Manoj Pandit wrote a review of Richa Ghimire‘s movie Brakefail. He wrote – "Richa didn’t look like an heroine in the movie," and published it in a website. Richa got angry, and complained to the police, who arrested Manoj. He admitted his "mistake" in getting personal about the actress. Nagarik published the issue and it was made public.

In the article, Richa claimed that the website, Merocinema, wrote the negative review because of the fact that she refused to provide an advertisement to it.  She also told, only NJA designated journalists should write movie reviews – all others should only write positive things.

Rajesh Hamal postponed marriage on suggestion of 22-year-old Harihar Adhikari

The fame of Harihar Adhikari, a young astrologer, raised when he rightly predicted the date of the resignation of then Prime Minister, Madhav Kumar Nepal. Adhikari made the prediction on the next day of Nepal’s appointment as the Prime Minster of Nepal. After that, he rightly predicted India to be the winner in the Cricket World Cup winner.

Then came a news about the Maha Nayak Rajesh Hamal postponing his marriage by two years on suggestion of Harihar. Alreay late for marriage, almost 50 year old Hamal had recently announced his intention to get married with his young girlfriend.

Although being young, Harihar is not unknown. He has been running a  Astrology program named ‘Faladesh’ in a local television.

Khagendra kissed Karishma Manandhar

When Khagendra Thapa Magar kissed Rekha Thapa in 2009, it was a huge news. This time he got an opportunity to kiss another hot actress (although, a bit older), Karishma Manandhar. But this didn’t make a big news, may be because Khagendra is no longer a world’s shortest person. Khagendra kissed Karishma in Malaysia during his attendence in Khagendra Utsav, a festival named after him.

Khagendra is such a cute little guy that everybody want to pick him up and take a photo. And it seems, he likes kissing every beautiful ladies he could get hold of.

Manisha Koirala – ‘My husband has become my enemy’

It seems, the marriage of Manisha Koirala with Samrat Dahal is not going to last long. Last time, Manisha posted about her intention of divorce in May. She has done it again – by posting a bit more sad and harsh message in Facebook. The message reads:

My husband has become my enemy. How much worst can it become for a women?

Last time, the difference between the couple was was patched when friends and families helped them to soothe the relationship wounds. Manisha clarified that it was a minor issue with her husband.

Shakuntala Sharma is a new entry in Nepali movie industry, from Sikkim, India.  The 21 years old beauty is 5 feet and 4 inches tall and is a gradate in English (BA) from Loreto college Darjeeling.

Shakuntala debuted in Paristhiti, a movie on AIDS, media and Darjeeling. Directed by Bhavesh Thakuri, Paristhiti, helped Shakuntala to snatch a Best Actress award.

Sanchita gave birth to Nikhil’s son – on Krishna Janmasthmi

The first child of the unofficial marriage between Sanchita Luitel and Nikhil Upreti is born on August 21, 2011 at around 11 PM in Kathmandu. According to the reports, the doctors in Norvic Hospital had performed caesarean section operation on Sanchita. Although Nikhil Upreti and Sanchita had lived together for about a year in Mumbai, the marriage between the two is not official.

Nikhil Upreti has a one-year-old son with his first wife, Kopila Upreti, with whom he hasn’t divorced yet.  Nikhil Upreti arrived in Kathmandu yesterday to meet Sanchita.

Best wishes of Rekha, Rejina and Richa to Pregnant actresses Sanchita and Arunima

In Nepal, pregnant women are fed beaten rice and yogurt (Dahi Chiura) to wish for the health of the mother and the unborn child. Three of the Nepali actresses, Rekha Thapa, Rejina Upreti, and Richa Ghimire gathered in an event organized at Arunima Lamsal‘s home in Kapan Kathmandu. They also invited another pregnant actress Sanchita Luitel in the ceremony.

What makes this event special is that, these five actresses, who are considered to be rivals in Nepali movie industry, have tried to prove everybody wrong by gathering in a place to celebrate the happiness of two of their colleagues.

Rajesh Hamal featured in US Embassy PSA for visa fraud awareness

The US Embassy Public Service Announcement (PSA) featuring Rajesh Hamal is recently released in Nepali media. The Embassy had selected Rajesh Hamal to convey the message that, no private organization can influence the issuance of US Embassy Visa. It is only the Counselor of the embassy who decide to issue the visa and nobody can influence his/her decision. It is another story that, Rajesh Hamal’s US visa application was rejected in January of 2009.

Shree Krishna says his relationship with Sweta is "very strong"

There was a rumor about disagreement between Shree Krishna Shrestha and Sweta Khadka last week. Newspapers wrote that Shree krishna Shrestha wasn’t happy with Sweta because of her miniskirt appearance in her upcoming movie Haasi Deu Ek Fera.

It was after they worked together in Kahaan Bhetiyela people had started to link Shree Krishna and Sweta together. They however deny any affairs and told that they were "just good friends".
