Nepali movie ‘Jhola’ is a movie made on a popular book by the same name by literary figure, Krishna Dharabasi. The plot set on the Nepali society of the time about a century ago. The movie directed by Yadav Kumar Bhattarai features Garima Pant, Desh Bhakta Khanal, Deepak Chhetri, Laxmi Giri, Pralhad Khatiwada etc. in main roles. The movie made on the banner of Media for Culture Pvt. Ltd. was made after an extensive research on the topic for about 7 years. Based on the novel, late Deepak Alok had written the script of the movie – keeping the core of the book intact. The movie can be categorized as a historical art movie.
The movie presents the height of violence against women in ancient Nepal – Sati tradition. In ‘Jhola’ an young woman (Garima Pant) is married to a man 40 years senior to her. When her husband dies, Garima is burned alive with the dead body of her husband. She escaped the fire and hides in a cave. You can watch the movie to know what happens to Garima and how her underage son helps her.
Three Nepali movies ‘Mokshya’, ‘Jhola’ and ‘Mutu’ are releasing in theaters on Friday, February 7.
Musical dram and biopic ‘Mokshya’ is considered to be one of the best movies of the year based on the review of the preview shows. The movie made on a real story of a musical band is also a story of the director Prabin Shrestha himself. The movie produced by Sunil Manandhar features Koshis Chhetri and Benisha Hamal in lead roles.
Changing names is a common practice among Nepali artists for a better name or for good luck. Some astrologers suggest a different names for the success in their career. For example, Bhuwan KC changed his name to a 7-lettered Bhuwann before the release of his movie ‘Sathi Ma Timro‘. It’s a different story, the movie didn’t do well in theater. Actress Binita Baral had also changed her name to Beenita (7-letters) on the suggestion of an astrologer. The result of the change in names were not that exciting. But, that won’t deter people from changing names. Others change to a better sounding names like Shova to Nandita, Radheshyam to Ramit, Nawaraj to Nawal and so on.

In a press meet held in Kathmandu on January 20, program details of Kathmandu International Film Festival (KIFF) was announced. The first edition of the film festival will run for 5 days from Magh 13 to 17 (January 27 to January 31, 2014).
The festival will features 12 movies from Nepal, Russia, India, Israel, South Korea, Spain, France, Norway, and South Africa.

The movie ‘Daanveer’ is the presentation of Chiranjivi for CB Films.
The producer of ‘Parai’, Govinda Shahi, has told that a portion of the income made by the movie will go to the director’s family. ‘Parai’ director Shiva Regmi had died earlier this month after kidney failure.
The producer told, "15 percent of the collection made by the movie in theater all over Nepal on the release day, Friday will be donated to Shiva Regmi family and Shiva Regmi Trust." Half of the amount goes to Shiva’s family and the remaining half to the Trust. The movie is going to release in theaters on December 27.
A friendly football match, Bhakundo Bhidanta, was held between the film artists and advertisement professionals held in Dasarath Stadium on Saturday May 18, 2013. The film artists lost to the advertisement professionals by 4 to 2 goals.
The artists who participated in the match include actors Rajesh Hamal, Jiwan Luitel, Jitu Nepal, Kiran KC, Hari Bamsha Acharya and actresses Jharana Thapa, Binita Baral, Garima Pant, Poojana Pradhan, Deepa Shree Niraula, Sushma Karki, Nita Dhungana etc. The football match of the artists who couldn’t control the ball was funny and full of enjoyment. Akash Khawas had scored two goals for the artists.

The festival color, Holi is the best festival of the kids and Poojana Pradhan is the best person to count on celebrating Holi with kids. Poojana’s message, "Your happiness is my destiny." and she has wished best wishes of Holi to her lovely kids,family,friends,fans and audience. Poojana adds, "Enjoy Holi without hurting others!"
In a program held to mark 99th birthday of the first elected prime minister of Nepal, BP Koirala, actress Jharana Thapa was honored by an award. Nepali Congress president Sushil Koirala handed over the award to the actress. Other Nepali movie artists honored in the program include actress Jharana Bajracharya, actress Garima Pant, actor Krishna Malla, RP Panta, Sunil Thapa, Jitu Nepal, Deepak Raj Giri, Sambhujit Baskota and Prabhakar Sharma among others.

The child Ashmi (played by Garima Pant) grows up to become a beautiful young girl. Attracted to the beauty of Ashmi, two boys, Rahul (Niraj baral) and Avisekh (Raj Ballav Koirala), start chasing her. There is a twist in the story in the movie when Ashmi, Rahul and Avisekh met an unknown women. You need to go to theatre to get all these answers.
