Nepali Movie ‘Hawaldar Suntali’ is the last movie produced by Chhabi Raj Ojha under his Chhabiraj Films banner. He is currently busy in the production of ‘Kismat 2’ featuring actress Shilpa in leading role. The movie was promoted as being made on the life of Suntali Dhami – the police officer who was raped by her co-worker police officers. The movie introduction however states that the story is not based on real incidents or people.
The nominations for the upcoming movie award, D Cine Award has been released. The 7th edition of the cinema award is one of the many Nepali film awards being held by various organizations. The Award has teamed up with CG (Chaudhary Group, the business organization of Binod Chaudhary) this year to rename it LG D Cine Award 2072. The award ceremony is scheduled to be held in Mangsir month.
The nomination list is prepared from the movies released in the year 2071 BS. There will be 38 different categories of the award in the award ceremony. The award organizer has told that most of the 82 movies released in the year have participated in the award.
The jury members of the Award ceremony are writer and director Mohan Niraula, journalist and director Bijayaratna Tuladhar, musician Santosh Shrestha, and the first female cinematographer of Nepal Sabanam Mukhiya. Rekha’s movie ‘Rampyari’ is inaugurated on the auspicious occasion of Bishowkarma Puja. According to Hindu belief, Bishowkarma is the god of tools. On every Shrawan 1st god Bishowkarma is worshiped and the tools like vehicle, computer, camera etc. are worshiped for them to work properly. Why not Kishor Khatiwada?
Rekha Thapa has chosen actor Sabin Shrestha to be featured opposite to her in her upcoming movie ‘Rampyari’. Although she took a long time to choose the actor in the role, the relationship between the two is still good. Rekha is known to drift away from the actor who debut in her movies. Rekha Thapa had introduced in Sabin Shrestha in ‘Andaaz’ (watch ‘Andaaz’ here) in 2011.
Rekha’s nephew Avash Adhikari was chosen for a main role in March and his opposite in the movie is going to be Ashma DC according to a report published on the first week of September. After signing the agreement with Sabin, the movie is going to floor on Ashoj 1 (September 18). After a lengthy stay in the USA, Rekha had returned back to Nepal on July 27 to start the shooting of the movie.

The release date of Rishi Raj Acharya movie ‘Sapana Timro Mero’ has been scheduled to August 7 (Shrawan 22). The movie previously scheduled to release in June (Jestha 29) had been canceled after the devastating earthquake of April 25.
The movie ‘Aadhi Bato’ was released a year ago on April of 2014. The music jukebox of the movie was posted earlier in xnepali. Some of the shooting of the movie was done in the UK. Jenisha KC’s UK visit for the shooting of the movie had caused some rumour between the actress and the producer of the movie, Ramesh Twayna. The father of actor Sabin Shrestha has died of brain hemorrhage in a hospital in Bansbari. According to the director Nawal Nepal, 64-years old Laxman Shrestha had died on April 27 at around 4:00 PM.
Laxman Shrestha was rushed to Nuro Hospital when excessive blood pressure caused problem in his head. Laxman is also the father of fashion photographer and music video director, Nabin K. Shrestha.
The movie ‘Miss Nepal’ was released on May 30, 2014 in theaters out of Kathmandu and it was released in Kathmandu on June 6, 2014. The organizer of the beauty pageant, Miss Nepal, Hidden Treasure had lodged a complaint with the police to stop the release of the movie. After reviewing the claim, the police had decided that Hidden Treasure’s claim was baseless and allowed the movie to release. In a controversial poster of the movie, the actress and producer Suvekshya Thapa had posed topless with only a fish covering the upper part of her body. The poster later proved to be an exact copy of a Bollywood movie (read more about the poster controversy).
A movie shot entirely in Europe, ‘Namaste Nepal’ is ready for release in May in Europe. The movie however will release a bit late, on July 17 (Shrawan 1, 2072), in Nepal. Currently preparing for the release, the movie features actors Sabin Shrestha, Shyam Shrestha, Anna, Anuj Pradha, Gopal Dhakal, Kamala Dahal, Parbati Adhikari and others. With this movie popular choreographer Raju Shah is debuting as a director.
The movie produced under the banner of Dwarika Production, is produced jointly by Pradeep Kumar Uday, Mandira Shrestha and Riju Shah. The movie features the choreography of Raju Shah / Teresa and action by Chandra Pant. Foreign star cast include Anna, Bond, George, John and others.
Actor Sabin Shrestha has asked his ex-girlfriend Namrata Jha to stop talking about him and taking credit of his success. In his Facebook post, Sabin has told that it has already been two years since he and his girlfriend of 8-years have broken up. In the last two years, he had never called her and says that he is happy that way. We wrote about the break-up of Sabin and Namrata in 2013.

The role of actor Nikhil Upreti in the movie on floor, ‘Lootera’ is that of a don. The getup seen in the shooting photos is different from his roles in other movies. Nikhil has made sure that the style and getup of ‘Lootera’ doesn’t match to that of his upcoming release ‘Bhairav’.
‘Lootera’ is being jointly produced by Basanta Kumar Shrestha and Gopal kayastha. With Nikhil artists Nisha Adhikari, Harshika Shrestha and Sabin Shrestha are also featured in leading roles in the movie. After the completion of the shooting of the movie in Kathamndu in a few days, the film crew is moving to Birgunj for the remaining shooting.
The Censor Board has certified that the Chhabi Raj Ojha production movie ‘Hawaldar Suntali’ is suitable for the viewers of all age by awarding an ‘U’ rating. The movie to release on April 3 is made under Chhabiraj Films banner.
The movie made on a real story of the rape of a police officer Suntali Dhami by her own colleagues, features Shilpa Pokharel in the role of Suntali. Directed by Rishi Lamichane, the movie features Sabin Shrestha and Kishor Khatiwada with Shilpa in leading roles.
Director Nawal Nepal has announced a new movie titled ‘Bhaag Saani Bhaag’ in a program organized in Kathmandu on Thursday, March 19. Noted musician Chetan Sapkota is debuting as a film producer in the movie.
The female oriented movie will revolve around the the character Saani, played by actress Keki Adhikari. Actor Sabin Shrestha will be featured opposite to Keki in the movie and other supporting actors in the movie include Nir Shah, Laya Sangarula, Geeta Adhikari, Rabindra Khadka, and Bishnu Sapkota.

After being absent for the last four years action actor Nikhil Upreti is making a comeback in an action movie ‘Lutera’. The movie being produced by a film distributor, Gopal Kayastha, will feature actors like Nisha Adhikari, Sabin Shrestha, Amit Shrestha and Harshika Shrestha.
