Rhythm bagged BO Film Award 2071, Rekha Thapa and Jiwan Luitel best actors

In Box Office Film Award ceremony was held on May 18, 2014 in Kathmandu Bikash Acharya‘s movie ‘Rhythm’ bagged the best movie award. Bikash was also awarded the best director award for the movie. Actor Jiwan Luitel was also awarded the best actor award for his role in the movie.

Actress Rekha Thapa was awarded Public Choice Award and Best Actress Award for her role in ‘Kali‘. ‘Mokshya’ director, Prabin Shrestha was awarded the Best Debut Director. New Actor, New Actress and Supporting Actor were awarded to Anmol KC, Prakriti Shrestha and Salon Basnet respectively for their role in ‘Hostel‘. The movie was also awarded the Public Choice Award.

Friday Release, Aawaran, Thulo Manche, Khudkilo and Pipal

Four new movies are being released on May 16, 2014 in theaters all over Nepal. Director Subash Koirala‘s movie ‘Aawaran’,  director Prashant Tamang’s direction ‘Thulo Manche’, Niranjan Kasaju’s movie ‘Peepal’ and Janakraj Khakurel’s movie ‘Khudkilo’ are releasing in theater this Friday.

The most publicized movies among the four new releases is ‘Aawaran’. The movie directed by Subash Koirala is also told to be made by using latest graphic technology. The movie features actress Priyanka Karki in leading role and other actors in the movie include Divya Dev, Sushil Raj Pandey, Naresh poudel, Anubhav Regmi and others. The movie made on horror suspense thriller is produced by Anil Yonjan.

Thulo Manche

A movie made on a story of children, ‘Thulo Manche’ is directed by artist Prashant Tamang. The movie produced by Pradeep Khadka features a number of child artists. Actress Keki Adhikari is featured in guest role in the movie.

First look poster of Lazza released

The first look poster of upcoming movie by noted film maker Chhabi Raj Ojha, ‘Lazza’ is released.

The movie scheduled to release on Kartik 7 (October 24, 2014) features Aryan Sigdel and Shilpa Pokharel in lead role. The movie directed by Nawal Nepal is the third movie under Chhabiraj Films banner.

After the divorce with Rekha Thapa, Chhabi had registered the production banner under his own name. The first movie under the banner, was ‘Hamesha‘ which was jointly produced by Chhabiraj Films and Rekha Films.

Adhakatti unit waiting Namrata Shrestha to wrap up the shooting

The shooting of the movie by Subrat Acharya, ‘Adhakatti’ was halted when actress Namrata Shrestha became sick and had to undergo surgery. The ‘Adhakatti’ team is expecting to complete shooting soon as Namrata has returned back to Kathmandu after resting in Pokhara for some time.

‘Adhakatti’ features an item dance of the actress. The director Acharya says that the shooting of everything except the item dance titled ‘Hey Namrata…’ has finished.

Censor Board now includes actress Melina Manandhar and director Suresh Darpan

The Censor Board of Nepal has been criticized for censoring movies unnecessarily. The Minister of Information and Communication, Dr. Minendra Rijal has added three new members in the board. Three new members include the CEO of film distributor, Darshana Arts and director Suresh Darpan Pokharel, actress Melina Manandhar and Bimal Sangraula.

All three new members are the member of Nepali Congress party. By the politics involved, the decision seems to be influenced by the political affiliation rather than making the Board effective.

‘Euta Sathi’ shooting resumes after 4 months

The shooting of the journalist Laxman Subedi’s debut movie, as a director, ‘Euta Sathi’ has resumed on Baisakh 25 after a delay of 4 months because of an internal dispute. The dispute had caused a reshuffling of the production team.

In the first day of the shooting actor John Tamang and actress Anu Shah shot a scene. After completion of two days of shooting in Kathmandu, the team is scheduled to head towards Sauraha, Narayangad. The shooting at Narayangad and Kulekhani in Hetauda is expected to complete in a week. Rest of the shooting will be completed in Kathmandu location. The director Laxman Subedi says that the movie is a colorful story.

Friday release – Damdar, Red Monsoon and Aakal

This Friday, on May 9, three new Nepali movies are releasing in theater. Kamal Krishna movie ‘Damdar’, Eelum Dixit presentation ‘Red Monsoon’ and Nir Shah movie ‘Aakal’ are competing to win the hearts of the Nepali viewers in theaters all over Nepal.

Well known theater director Eelum Dixit is debuting in big screen movie in ‘Red Monsoon’. Eelum is a well known director of telefilms and theater plays who had completed bachelor in film acting and direction in New York. The movie is the retelling of a short story titled ‘Sharan’ by Karuna Sharma.

The movie tells the story of struggling young generation in Kathmandu. The movie features Himali Dixit, Sandip Chhetri, Sarita Giri, Shristi Ghimire and Hari Bansha Acharya in main roles. The director Eelum has written the script and dialogue of the movie produced by US film makers.

Not-much-Damdar, the promotion of Rekha Thapa movie

The promotion of Rekha Thapa‘s upcoming movie ‘Damdar’, releasing on this Friday is nothing like the name. Although the producer Suman Bista and the director Kamal Krishna are promoting the movie according to their might, the lead actor Sabin Shrestha and actress Rekha Thapa aren’t seen doing their part.

Sabin says that he is promoting the movie on his own but, the film production team hasn’t contacted him for the promotion. Rekha Thapa is also busy promoting her own movie ‘Himmatwali’, scheduled to release after 6 months.

Mithila Sharma to get married to Motilal Bohara, signed in The Rebirth

Nepali actress aged half-a-century, Mithila Sharma, is reportedly getting married this year. 74-years-old ex-police chief, Motilal Bohara said to be the groom of the actress. The rumor of an affair between Motilal and Mithila had been going on in the Nepali movie industry for some time. When Bohara’s wife died last year, the path of union between the two opened up.

Friday Release, World Cup in Nepal and Maya Gara La

Two new movies, ‘World Cup in Nepal’ and ‘Maya Gara La’ were released in theaters on Friday May 2, 2014.

Director Ram Sharan Pathak’s movie ‘World Cup in Nepal’ was awarded a Special Award by the Film Development Board (FDB). The presentation of Prakash Thapa is produced by Ram Tamang. The movie features Gopal Aryal, Sonu KC, Sharmila Sharma, Sangam Rai, Kulchandra Puri, Giri Prasad Pun and Umesh Thapa in main roles. The movie also feature ANFA Under-19 players. The cinematographer of the movie is Manish Panth and features music of Jugal Dangol. The choreographer of the movie is Krishna Bhakta Manandhar.

World Cup in Nepal to release in Kathmandu only

A movie made on child phycology, ‘World Cup in Nepal’ was appreciated during the premier. The movie scheduled to release on May 2, 2014 is going to release in theaters in Kathmandu only. The release on the theaters out of Kathmandu was postponed because of unavailability of the theaters.

Three Nepali movies ‘Nai Nabhannu La’, ‘Kabaddi’ and ‘November Rain’ have won the hearts of Nepali viewers and most of the theaters are unwilling to change the movies liked by their viewers.

Actress Pooja Sharma celebrated her birthday in ‘Ajhai Pani’ announcement press meet

Actress Pooja Sharma cut the birthday cake on April 30 in an event held in Kathmandu. The press meet organized to inform about upcoming movie ‘Ajhai Pani’ was also the birthday celebration ceremony. Talking at the event, Pooja told that the movie is her birthday gift.

‘Ajhai Pani’ features two well known directors – Alok Nembang and Sudarshan Thapa. Alok will direct the movie and Sudarshan will be featured in the leading role. With Sudarshan and Pooja the movie will also feature Surakshya Pant, Puspa Pant, and Bishal Dhungana. Actors Mithila Sharma, Bijaya Lama and Ramsharan Pathak will also have guest roles in the movie.

Shilpa Pokharel in the path to become the new Rekha Thapa, signed Hawaldar Suntali

Yes, Shilpa had told that before – she is going to be the new Rekha Thapa. The latest news about Shilpa Pokharel signing up Chhabi Raj Ojha‘s upcoming movie ‘Hawaldar Suntali’ indicates the she might be destined to be Chhabi’s actress of choice. Shilpa debuted in the movie industry in Chhabi’s movie ‘Lazza’. She has been signed up in another of his movie before the release of the debut one.

With Shilpa the movie will also feature Sabin Shrestha and Kishor Khatiwada with Shilpa in leading roles. The movie to be directed by Rishi Lamichane will be shot in location all over Nepal from East to West. The movie is about a police woman working in Achham, Suntali Dhami. Suntali was raped by a group of her colleague police officers.
