But, many of the top actors in the Nepali film industry are already married. Most of the wives are also the secret of their husband’s success. They might not be as popular as their husband, but they are equally important in the lives of our idols/superstars. Let me introduce you to the wives of Top 10 Nepali Actors:

Dayahang Rai and Benuka Rai

One of the most popular actor in the Nepali film industry is Dayahang Rai. Known for his down-to-earth nature and natural acting talent, Dayahang is considered unconventional hero in the film industry. Dayanag is married to Benuka Rai, a singer by profession. Benuka and Dayahang met during a recording of one of her songs and they started seeing each others. Benuka and Dayahang have a son. While Benuka has found a celebrity husband, he has also found a beautiful and smart wife.

Nepali actor Rajesh Hamal is one of the top actors in the Nepali film industry. Often called Maha Nayak (Super Actor), Rajesh Hamal ruled the film industry for about a quarter century. He prefers to tell that the film industry grew with him. Hamal is credited for :

Bringing professionalism in Nepali film industry.
Being the first educated actor in the film industry. He had done Masters in English literature from Punjab University in India.
He is considered a no-nonsense actor. Unlike other actors, Hamal kept himself from having affairs with the actresses. Although there were rumours of his affair, all rumours turned fake. Actresses had termed him as the coldest actor in the film industry.
Rajesh is a good orator and can easily impress the listener by his oratory skills. Proficiency in his English language is also something not seen in the Nepali film industry.
The height, looks and the physique have also been factors that attracted youngsters of his time.

‘We are still in Honeymoon’, Rajesh Hamal says, baby attempt going on

In a conversation with RJ Sabeena Karki, Nepali actor Rajesh Hamal has talked about his personal life and about his wife. Rajesh told his married life is going “fantastic” and he is very happy with his marriage. In the live interview was taken at Time Square in New York, Rajesh told that hew was confused if he should get married or not. He added, “Now, once I am married, I am very happy.”

When asked about the child, Rajesh Hamal told that he is still in honeymoon phase. He also added, he is trying to get Madhu Bhattarai pregnant.

Wives of Top 10 Nepali actors (and more)

If common saying is to be believed, wives are the other half of a person. We know the actors very much, but it seems, we don’t care much of the other half of the celebrities. Recently, I prepared a video about the wives of the top 10 actors in the Nepali movie industry. While preparing the list, I felt like adding the names of some additional actors at the end after talking about the top 10.

Now, I feel like finding out all the wives of all the actors of the Nepali movie industry. Before I start listing the wives of the actors, you can watch the details about the top 10 actors in the following video. In addition to the wives I have also mentioned about the number of their children.

Before diving into the full list, let me list the top 5 actors in the list and the reason why they were listed in the top position:

Dayahang Rai (winner of Best Actor award at the National Film Awards 2016) – Wife is Benuka Rai (one son)
Aryan Sigdel (winner of Best Actor Award at FAAN 2016) – wife is Sapana Bhandari (don’t have children yet)
Rajesh Hamal (so called Mahanayak) – wife is Madhu Bhattarai (don’t have children yet)

Madhu Bhattarai hot avatar, in Thailand vacation with Rajesh Hamal

The superstar of Nepali film industry, Rajesh Hamal is currently in Thailand with his wife Madhu Bhattarai. The couple who married two years ago (Rajesh Hamal and Madhu Bhattarai marriage) are yet to be parents. Because of the age difference between Madhu and Rajesh there had been skepticism on the longevity of their relationship (Rajesh recently turned 52 years old). From time to time those skeptics spread rumours about their relationship. Last time, in May, Rajesh Hamal had responded to the rumour by updating his Facebook cover picture (video report is attached at the end).

This time the Thailand vacation of the couple give s glimpse of their relationship. I have prepared a video with the photos and Rajesh Hamal’s response to the rumour. Watch the video:

Who is Madhu Bhattarai?

Rajesh Hamal’s wife, Madhu Bhattarai was a model before she started having a affair with Hamal. After a lengthy affair, Hamal decided to get married. Madhu is half the age of Hamal. At the time of marriage, Rajesh Hamal was 50 years old and Madhu was 28.

For the first time, the identity of Hamal’s girlfriend was revealed in 2013 when she appeared in an article of Saptahik. In a few days, the photos and more details of Madhu appeared online. Continue reading

Why did Rajesh Hamal take Dashain tika on the next day

The biggest festival in Nepal, Dashain, is celebrated for a long time. Navaratri starts on Ghatasthapana and runs for nine days to Dashain Tika. Tika also extends to 5 more days to visit places and receive Dashain Tika. Because of this flexibility, actor Rajesh Hamal waits a day before he starts taking Dashain Tika. That is because his mother had died on Dashain Tika and he performs the traditional Hindu rituals on the day, Shradha, and don’t take tika.

Although, some people believe that, one can take Tika after the traditional rituals, Rajesh prefers to wait a day to take Tika.

In the past years, Rajesh used to go to the USA to celebrate Dashain and Tihar with his sisters. This year, because of NRN conference in Kathmandu his sister and her husband, Khagendra Chhetri, were in Kathmandu. He received tika from Khagendra and his mother’s maternal aunt.

Rajesh Hamal celebrates his first marriage anniversary in Pokhara

Nepali actor Rajesh Hamal celebrated his first marriage anniversary in Pokhara. At the age of 50, Rajesh had married 20 years younger Madhu Bhattarai were married on May 24, 2014. Rajesh and Madhu had a plan to go to the USA for their honeymoon. But, when Madhu’s visa application was delayed, they had to go to Pokhara for the honeymoon, that too, after a month of marriage. Rajesh went to Australia in an pre-scheduled program and couldn’t take Madhu with him. Although the honeymoon in USA couldn’t be a reality, they went to the USA in March this year.

Celebration of the first anniversary in the place they went for honeymoon does make sense. In a Facebook post, Rajesh writes, “We cam for Pokhara tourism program on Thursday, which also happens to be our anniversary. Pokhara is great as ever paragliding and ultra light fly made our visit even more special.”

In their US tour, the Nepali superstar Rajesh Hamal and his wife Madhu Bhattarai talked to the local television, White Himal TV. This is the first time the superstar couple has appeared together in a television interview.

In the interview, the couple have discussed about their honeymoon trip, their marriage, relationship and future plans.

The Rajesh Hamal couple has left for the USA to participate in a NRN conference. The Hamal couple’s honeymoon plan right after their marriage was foiled when Madhu couldn’t get the visa. They went to Pokhara instead.

That was not the only canceled plan of US visit, another plan was canceled because the shooting schedule conflicted with their planned travel. This time, when Turkish Airlines aircraft disrupted the international airlines, Hamal was concerned and expressed his happiness when it was cleared.

Nepali actor Rajesh Hamal and his wife Madhu Bhattarai are visiting USA on the invitation of NRN USA. The NRN program is scheduled to be held from March 20 to 22 in Washington DC. To participate in the program Rajesh and Madhu are leaving Nepal on March 16.

When the Turkish Airlines aircraft was removed from the runway on March 8, Rajesh Hamal had expressed his happiness by writing "Khulyo Khulyo Intl. Airport khulyo. Timro mero yatra khulyo…finally Turkish plane is out of the way."

Last time when Rajesh Hamal went to the USA, he couldn’t take his wife Madhu Bhattarai with him. At that time they didn’t have time for the visa application so, Hamal had to go alone. The second opportunity of Rajesh Hamal’s visit was canceled because of the shooting of a South Indian movie ‘Bagmati’. This time, they have planned the trip well ahead and they are finally flying together to the USA.

After getting married, Rajesh Hamal was pretty busy in programs in Australia and now, he had found time to spend quality time with his new wife, Madhu Bhattarai.

The new couple has headed towards the beautiful city, Pokhara on Tuesday, June 24. Hamal also shared a selfie of the two in the airplane in his Facebook.

2014, the year of celebrity marriages

UPDATE on July 12 Five more marriages were held in July. We had talked about the three marriages at the end of this post. Two additional marriages include that of Sweta Bhattarai, Prakriti Shrestha. Mithila Sharma married Motilal Bohara in an un-announced event among close friends only. Sweta Khadka marries Shree Krishna Shrestha and Diya Maskey marries Anup Baral in public functions, Sweta Bhattarai marries Milan Sapkota secretly and another unannounced marriage was that of Prakriti Shrestha and Sudeep Neupane.

UPDATE on June 27 Richa Singh Thakuri married to an Australian NRN, Gajendra Thapa, on Ashad 6 (June 20). The news about their marriage was released a few weeks earlier.

It seems, the year 2014 is going to the year of celebrity marriages. It started with actress Bhawana Regmi marrying in January. The celebrity marriages, so far in 2014, are:

Bhawana Regmi marriage

The daughter of late director Shiva Regmi got married in January, a month after her father’s death. The marriage of ‘So Simple’ actress was a low profile marriage in family mourning the death of her father.

Shankar BC and Nisha Sunar marriage

We don’t know the exact date of this marriage between choreographer and dancer Shankar BC and singer Nisha Sunar. The couple shared their secret marriage photo in February 2014 right after Nisha went to USA. In the USA, Nisha also gave birth to a child within a month of the marriage announcement. Shankar has a family of his own in Nepal and it was the third marriage of Nisha.

The marriage doesn’t make much as Shankar is living in Nepal and Nisha living in USA. A month after the birth of the child, Nisha has started working in a restaurant in the USA.

June 7 program in Australia to honor Rajesh Hamal and celebrate his birthday

A special program Megaevent 2014, being held on June 7 in Australia, is scheduled to appreciate and honor 25-years-long acting career of Rajesh Hamal. The program featuring Rajesh Hamal, Rajesh Payal Rai and Anju Pant is going to be held in Tasmania, Launceston on June 7, 2014.

The program is scheduled to mark the birthday of British queen Elizabeth II. In the program, Rajesh Hamal will talk about his 25-years-long history in Nepali film industry. In addition to that Rajesh will also deliver some dialogues and dances in the program. In organizers will also celebrate the birthday of Rajesh Hamal.

Rajesh Hamal took his wife Madhu Bhattarai in his Nawalparasi home

A day after the marriage and Suhagrat in a resort in Dhulikhel, Rajesh Hamal and his newly married wife, Madhu Bhattarai went to their ancestral home at Nawalparasi. The couple took a Buddha Air flight from Kathamndu to Chitwan and drove to their home in their car. In Nepali culture, a newly married wife enters the house after performing certain ritual. Rajesh performed such rituals at his home before taking his wife inside. A priest, Bishownath Gyawali performed the rituals before Madhu entered Rajesh’s ancestral home.

Rajesh told that he wanted Madhu to first enter his home in Nawalparasi before they start to live in their home in Kathmandu. In Kathmandu Hamal lives in a house in Kapurdhara, Kathmandu. There were no decorations or any signs of marriage in his Kathmandu residence.
