What is the true face of Prithivi Narayan Shah?

Today is Prithivi Jayanti, Ekata Diwas. Prithivi Narayan Shah is credited for the unification of Nepal at the time when the country was divided into smaller states. There are three types of people who:

  • Support Prithivi Narayan and consider him a great person
  • Are indifferent of Prithivi and are neutral
  • Against Prithivi Narayan

Those who support believe it was Prithivi who saved Nepal from going under the British rule. He created an identity of Nepal and Nepali people.

Others don’t care because, Prithivi happened to be one of the stronger kings who could win other states. Other kings were also trying to do the same but they failed. It was Prithivi’s job to extend the boundary of his kingdom at that time. They believe he was doing his job and nothing more or less.

The third category people are against Prithivi because he killed a lot of people to win other states. His attack to Kathmandu valley is believed to be particularly brutal. He installed new language and system in the valley. The Newar culture and language became sub-standard to Nepali language.

All three types of people are right to some extent. I don’t want to go in details on who is more right.

Prachanda could’t save them, in the time of peace

The CPN Maoist supremo, Prachanda, is the father of three daughters and a son. He has lost half of his children in the span of 4 years.

Throughout the 10 years and 9 months long people’s war a lot of people died. Reports say that more than 19,000 people had died collectively in Maoist side and the government side. In such a crisis situation, the commander of the rebel army, Prachanda had managed to save himself and his family. Now, when the war ended and everything is going on smoothly, he has lost half of his children to the medical conditions that he can’t control. He had lost a daughter to cancer and the son to heart problem.

Dahal’s only son Prakash Dahal had died on November 19, 2017 at the age of 38. According to the hospital source he had died at around 3 AM while sleeping in his residence in Lazimpat. He was discovered at 5 AM and was rushed to the hospital.

4 years ago, Prachanda had lost his eldest daughter, Gyanu KC because of breast cancer. The 40-years-old KC died on March 27, 2014 while undergoing treatment.

Prakash Dahal Biography, wives and sons

Although the death of Prakash Dahal, the son of Prachanda ,is confirmed by different sources, it is not officially announced. Prachand’s long time associate, Dr. Baburam Bhattarai has also confirmed the death and has sent his condolences through social media.

Why the delay in official announcement?

The hospital hasn’t officially announced the death of Prakash Dahal. But, everybody else including the family have confirmed the death. Prachanda has taken a helicopter to return back to Kathmandu from Jhapa where he was in the election campaign. The official announcement of the death is expected after Prachanda arrives at the hospital.

Why Prakash didn’t go with his father to Jhapa?

Prakash has been assisting his father in most of his works for a long time. He used to be with his father most of the time. On the day before his death, he was helping his father in election campaign in Chitwan. On Saturday, Prachanda had to go to Jhapa to address the mass meeting there. He had asked his son to go with him but, Prakash told that he wasn’t feeling well. He decided to go to Kathmandu to take rest instead.

There will be 52 biographies in a year. This week’s biography is of the new prime minister of Nepal, Sher Bahadur Deuba. Watch the video first before reading the details of his life:

Who is Sher Bahadur Deuba?

From a simple family of a village in Dadeldhura, Sher Bahadur Deuba is one of the major political personality in Nepal. He started his political career as a student leader. In the start, Nepali Congress leader, BP Koirala, had supported Deuba in the party. After BP’s death Nepali Congress was led jointly by Ganesh Man Singh, Krishna Prasad Bhattarai and Girija Prasad Koirala. After the death of Ganesh Man and Krishna Prasad, Girija was the sole leader of the party. The only leader in the party to challenge Girija was Deuba. He managed to become Prime Minister despite Girija Prasad Koirala. It is believed that Girija was one of the forces behind the impeachment of Deuba in his first tenure as the prime minister.

Ruby Rana beauty secret

Although crowned more than two decades ago, the first Miss Nepal is still fit and beautiful. She has maintained her body and looks for more than two decades. Maintaining the looks is not an easy task. Being a beautician has helped Ruby in doing it right.

In the morning – right after waking up she drinks lukewarm lemon water. Then her regular yoga workout starts. In addition to yoga she also exercises everyday. The type of exercise however are not consistent. She does jumba, aerobics and gym workout at home.

  • In breakfast Ruby eats cornflakes, cucumber and watermelon.
  • In lunch she eats roti, daal and cooked vegetables. (bread, dal and tarkari)
  • In the evening she only drinks soup.
  • She has also become a vegetarian these days. That is because she likes drinking when she eats meat. As alcohol is not good for the health and beauty, she tries to keep herself away from alcohol.
  • Ruby also drinks 14-15 glases of water in a day.

Curious Case of Bomjom – So called god was behind the death of his own sister

UPDATE – Bomjon’s mother had gone to the police to help rescue her daughter, Bomjon’s younger sister, Ranjita Bomjon, when he abducted her. The following photo was published in a local daily ‘Prateek Daily’.

The Buddha Boy made news in international media when the news of his meditation spread like a fire in 2005-06. After that he has been making news in more negative than positive ones. Ram Bahadur Bomjon has renamed himself a difficult name and had conducted a Maitri Convention in Lalitpur. I prepared a video introduction of the self-claimed God (attached below).

Being God is not easy. And, Gods punish the bad people. May be that is what is doing by punishing people – kidnapping and beating and even killing his own sibling. According to a report published in Setopati, he was the cause of the death of his elder sister. He has also punished a guy in the forest area where he lives. According to the source quoted by Setopati, the guy is fighting for his life.

Bomjon and his followers keep their residence in a tight security surveillance. Nobody knows what happens in side the area inside a huge forest.

Malvika Subba Biography

Born on July 19, 1981, Malvika Subba was the third child of her parents. After two boys, her mother gave birth to Malvika in her 40s on the pressure of her father for a daughter. Malvika’s father a Subba was a police officer and her mother Sashikala was a Brahmin. In their time, intercaste marriage was a tabbo. That was the reason, Sashikala’s parents cut-off their ties with the daughter after she married Malvika’s father.

When you look at the life of Deepak Raj Giri, it was nothing to laugh at. A comedy actor, Deepak, went through a very tough time while growing up. Some of the depressing moments of Deepak’s life:

  • Mother died when he was 4. As a kid, Deepak didn’t know what mother’s love is.
  • Failed SLC twice. The School Leaving Certificate (SLC) exam is considered the iron gate of our life. Being not able to pass the basic school exam is considered a total failure in Nepali context.
  • Marriage aged 18. Having a responsibility of a wife at an young age is an added responsibility.
  • Ran away from police training. He was about to become a police officer. But, the training proved to be too tough and he had to run away before the completion of the training.
  • Kicked out of home – When he couldn’t get into job and won’t earn a living, his father decided to teach him the life lesson and asked him take his family and live on his own.
  • The movie featuring Deepak Raj Giri in leading role, ‘Sundar Mero Nam’ flopped.

Hari Bansha Acharya, one of the MaHa-duo, was born to Homanjaya Acharya and Ganesh Kumari on 27th Kartik 2014 BS (9th October 1958) in Gairidhara, Kathmandu. In 2040 BS he married Meera Acharya with whom he has two sons, Trilok Acharya and Mohit Acharya.

He started his entertainment career with a performance in Radio Nepal with Hari Prasad Rimal and Jitendra Mahat Avilashi in 2031 BS. He joined Rastriya Naach Ghar, a theater in Kathmandu, in 2032. His solo performance in the Gaijatra Mahotsav of 2034 BS was the first successful event before partnering with Madan Krishna Shrestha. Hari Bamsha is an expert in caricature and his combination with Madan Krishna Shrestha has been very successful in Nepali comedy for the last three decades.  Continue reading
