Singer Anil Singh proposed Rekha Thapa while singing at Star FM Music Award ceremony

At the time when the love festival – Valentine Day is nearing, singer Anil Thapa offered his love proposal to actress Rekha Thapa. The incident happened during the Star FM Music Award program in which singer Anil Singh was singing his popular song ‘I Love you … ‘

While singing the song, Anil went to the seat Rekha was sitting and led her to the stage. On stage, Anil went on his knees and proposed while singing. Rekha found it funny and laughed at all the time. In his facebook message Anil Singh wrote, "It is an honor and privilege to share stage along with superstar Rekha Thapa."

Karishma Manandhar daughter, Kabita debuts in a music video, Bhaigo

The daughter of well known actress in Nepali film industry, Karishma Manandhar, has debuted in the entertainment industry in a music video. The song titled ‘Bhaigo’ by Saroj Dutta features the 19-years-old star-child, Kabita Manandhar with Sakar Thapa. Directed by Miss ANA 2012, Sushma Bogati, the music is composed by well known musician and singer Sugam Pokharel.

5 milestones of Chhabi Raj Ojha as a Nepali movie producer

In 2040 BS Chhabi Raj Ojha started the distribution of Hindi movie. He moved to Kathmandu for the distribution. The first Nepali movie he distributed was ‘Bhagya Rekha’ – a movie produced by Chiranjivi Basnet and directed by Deepak Rayamajhi. The movie wasn’t successful commercially. He had also gone to Madras for the post production of the movie. After the failure of ‘Bhagyarekha’, Chhabi proposed a concept to Deepak Rayamajhi and promised to finance it.

Kala Subba, personal profile of a RJ, VJ, choreographer

Kala Subba was born in Hong Kong and was brought up in Dharan. Kala has established herself as a good radio jockey (RJ) and a choreographer. Trained in Kathak dance, Kala started as a model. In her struggle days, she had participated in various beauty contests including Miss Nepal 1996. She had won Miss Talent award in the contest. In 2000, Kala was also awarded the Best Female Model of the year 2000.

Notable works of Kala Subba:

  • Kala is a radio presenter in Hits FM 91.2.
  • As a choreographer, Kala has choreographed almost a hundred fashion shows and beauty pageants. Some of the notable events she choreographed are Miss Nepal Hong Kong, Miss Teej, and Miss Limbu beauty contests.
  • In the past she had also worked as a VJ and a producer in Channel Nepal for about four years.
  • Kala has also directed music videos, a promotional video ‘Numafung’.

Samjhana to bring Rekha Thapa and Namrata Shrestha together, in a movie

In Nepali film industry, actress Rekha Thapa and Namrata Shrestha are known not to like each other. If a latest report is true, they seem to have sorted out the issues and are willing to work together in an upcoming project. The company that produced upcoming movie ‘Megha’, Sawasta Entertainment, is planning to feature Rekha, Namrata and Manisha’s brother Siddhartha Koirala in an unnamed movie.

We reported about the new development in easing the relationship between the two actress during Tihar celebration at Karishma Manandhar‘s house. Rekha and Namrata were seen together with Samjhana Upreti Rauniar, lighting fire crackers.

Namrata Shrestha to be featured in an item dance in Adhakatti

In the debut movie of journalist Subrat Acharya as a director – ‘Adhakatti’, an item dance is made on the name of actress Namrata Shrestha. Subrat approached Namrata to dance on the song, ‘Kya Kamal, Babal Chau Namrata …’ and she agreed.

This will be the first time Namarata will dance in any item dance. In the movie, Namrata will appear in a character of a film actress. The lyrics written by Ranjit Acharya has music of Rajan Ishan. The voices are given by Yuvraj Chaulagai, Nisha Desar and Rajan Ishan.

Do Nepali actresses dance in Dubai hotels and casinos?

In a recent rumor, ‘Dhuwani’ actress Sagun Shahi has started dancing in hotels in Dubai. That was not all, it is revealed that a lot of other Nepali actress have been dancing in star hotels in Dubai.

The hotels run by Indian nationals demand Indian and Nepali actresses to dance in their hotels and casinos. The pay of such dancers range from 2,500 Riyal to 4,000 Riyal per month. The actresses usually dance in the hotels for few months to a year and come back to do movies. The movies they do are only to maintain their actress status. The earning made in acting is no match to the earning they make in Dubai.

Actress and model Simpal Khanal has been dancing in Dubai for some time. Five years ago, Simpal had married Prasanna Poudel, but the marriage lasted less than two years. It is rumored that Prasanna wasn’t happy when Simpal started visiting Dubai.

It has been a year since the marriage of actress Saranga Shrestha to Ramesh Karki. They got married on February 1, 2013. In the mean time, Saranga gave birth to a daughter in September of 2013.

Real Names of Nepali artists who had changed their name after entering the film industry

Changing names is a common practice among Nepali artists for a better name or for good luck. Some astrologers suggest a different names for the success in their career. For example, Bhuwan KC changed his name to a 7-lettered Bhuwann before the release of his movie ‘Sathi Ma Timro‘. It’s a different story, the movie didn’t do well in theater. Actress Binita Baral had also changed her name to Beenita (7-letters) on the suggestion of an astrologer. The result of the change in names were not that exciting. But, that won’t deter people from changing names. Others change to a better sounding names like Shova to Nandita, Radheshyam to Ramit, Nawaraj to Nawal and so on.

Wilson Bikram Rai celebrated birthday and gave presents to technicians

The actor popularly known as Takme Budho, Wilson Bikram Rai, celebrated his 26th birthday in Pokhara on January 28, 2014. The actor currently shooting for ‘Humjayega’, cut a cake in celebrated with the film unit and journalists.

In his birthday, Wilson gifted shoes to the backstage artists of the movie he is working in. He remembered the day he used to work backstage and the hardships he had faced at that time. 40 pairs of shoes he distributed in the event were sponsored by the company he is brand ambassador is – Black Horse Shoes.

Sanchita Luitel and Priyanka Karki to dance in a cultural program in Malaysia

While other artists are participating in NEFTA Film Awards in Malaysia, actors including Jiwan Luitel, Jogindar Sharma, actress Priyanka Karki, Sanchita Luitel and singers Sugam Pokharel and Muna Thapa Magar are conducting a cultural program in a separate event. The Ncell sponsored event is organized to promote the Ncell SIM being offered to Nepali living in the country.

This is probably the first time actress Sanchita Luitel has participated after she gave birth to a son and a daughter. Sanchita has gained a lot of weight after childbirth and is working hard to slim down.

Artists arrive in Malaysia to participate in NEFTA Film Award

Nepali film related personalities have arrived to participate in one of the biggest Nepali film event in it’s 50-years-old history. The artists participating in the event are near 100 in number including most of the well known actors and technicians. NEFTA film award is going to be held on January 31, 2014.

The participants of NEFTA film award have already reached Malaysia. Rekha Thapa didn’t go to Malaysia, again – due to the failure of Best Actress award bargaining

It seems, actress Rekha Thapa has promised not to go to Malaysia again. It has been the second time Rekha has refused to go there on the last minute. Last year, Rekha had agreed to participate in Remix Dhamaka 5 and canceled her trip on the last minute. This time, she did the same by refusing to go to the NEFTA film award to be held there.

 

According to the sources close to Rekha, she had refused to go when the organizers weren’t willing to award her the Best Actress award. Rekha was trying to convince the organizers that she was the best actress in the film industry, until the last minute.

The script of ‘Kalo Pothi’ awarded Rs. 5.5 million cash prize

The director of ‘Basulli’, the movie chosen to be featured in Venice Film Festival, Min Bahadur Bham is awarded a cash prize equivalent to Rs. 55 lakh after wining an script competition. He has won the Swiss government (SDC) script competition of value $60,000. The prize amount is the production fund awarded to Min Bahadur to produce the movie.

The story and the script of the movie titled ‘Kalo Pothi’ is written by the director Min Bahadur himself. The movie is going to be made on the geography and life style of Karnali area. The artists of the film are yet to be finalized.

Nandita KC to be featured in Baabari

Actress Nandita KC is confirmed to be featured in the leading role of director Suman Ghimire’s move ‘Baabari’. The movie being presented by Smarika Film is produced by Sita Simkhada. Bhaskar Baniya is going to be featured opposite to Nandita KC in the movie.

‘Baabari’ features the script and dialogue of Sushil Pokharel. The lyrics of the movie are written by Madan Ghimrie and Sita Simkhada and the music is composed by Bikash Chaudahari and Arjun Pokharel. The movie going to floor on Falgun 25 is made on love story with a different twist.
