The shooting of much hyped movie ‘Hawaldar Suntali’ has started in Hetauda. The movie to be made on the story of a police officer, Suntali Dhami, who was raped in office, is being produced by Chhabi Raj Ojha. The movie featuring Shilpa Pokharel in lead role.
Directed by Rishi Lamichane, ‘Hawaldar Suntali’ also features with Kishor Khatiwada and Sabin Shrestha in leading roles. On the first day of shooting choreographer Kabiraj Gahatraj directed the song featuring Shilpa and Kishor.

A new movie titled ‘Pardeshi’ featuring ex-Indian Idol, Prashant Tamang and Rajani KC is releasing in theatre in Dashain of 2015. Sweta Khadka marries Shree Krishna Shrestha and Diya Maskey marries Anup Baral in public functions, Sweta Bhattarai marries Milan Sapkota secretly and another unannounced marriage was that of Prakriti Shrestha and Sudeep Neupane.
UPDATE on June 27 Richa Singh Thakuri married to an Australian NRN, Gajendra Thapa, on Ashad 6 (June 20). The news about their marriage was released a few weeks earlier.

It seems, the year 2014 is going to the year of celebrity marriages. It started with actress Bhawana Regmi marrying in January. The celebrity marriages, so far in 2014, are:
The daughter of late director Shiva Regmi got married in January, a month after her father’s death. The marriage of ‘So Simple’ actress was a low profile marriage in family mourning the death of her father.
We don’t know the exact date of this marriage between choreographer and dancer Shankar BC and singer Nisha Sunar. The couple shared their secret marriage photo in February 2014 right after Nisha went to USA. In the USA, Nisha also gave birth to a child within a month of the marriage announcement. Shankar has a family of his own in Nepal and it was the third marriage of Nisha.
The marriage doesn’t make much as Shankar is living in Nepal and Nisha living in USA. A month after the birth of the child, Nisha has started working in a restaurant in the USA.
Nepali movie ‘Nai Nabhannu La 2’ has successfully completed 51 days in theater. In Nepali film industry, 51-days celebration is considered the first milestone of a successful movie. On the occasion the celebration was held at Bishnu Film Hall in Dang, Tulsipur was special.
To participate in the celebration, the director Bikash Acharya and child artist Anubhav Regmi had arrived in Dang. Hundreds of film viewers including local children were present at the theater to meet Anubhav and the team.
A fashion house run by a notable fashion designer of Nepali film industry, Neelima, has be reopened on 30th May 2014, Friday at Alfa Beta Complex, New Baneshwor. The chief guest of the ceremony, Karishma Manandhar inaugurated the store by cutting a specially designed cake.
Speaking at the event, Neelima told that she wanted to make the event different by cutting a cake to inaugurate the store instead of cutting a ribbon. Here is a short video clip of of the event.
US actress and singer Selena Gomez went to Nepal representing UN Children’s Fund, UNICEF. She went to remote places in Nepal, but the visit was kept a secret. After returning from Nepal Gomez said, “Visit was extraordinary Powerful, heartbreaking. When you see children under the poverty you know how it is possible that they can be deprived of their basic needs.”
Although some photos taken by her fans had surfaced while she was in Nepal, the only photo she shared was shared on her way back.

Three new Nepali movies ‘Miss Nepal’, ‘Jodi No. 1’ and ‘Luki Luki’Â have released in theater in Nepal on Friday May 30, 2014. While ‘Miss Nepal’ had been very controversial and was been a focus of media for some time, other two movies were relatively unheard of.
The movie based on beauty contest Miss Nepal is titled ‘Miss Nepal’ and features the producer Suvekshya Thapa as Miss Nepal. The movie directed by Surendra Tuladhar is going to release in 23 theaters in Kathmandu and 40 theaters out of Kathmandu. With Suvekshya, the movie also features Sabin Shrestha and Kshitiza Shakya in lead roles.
The movie got in limelight when Miss Nepal organizer Hidden Treasure tried to block it. Suvekshya also posed topless to get the media attention. She had been actively using social media sites to promote the movie and share the poster for the last few months.
In the SAARC film festival, Nepali actress Garima Pant has been selected the best actress for her role in ‘Jhola’. The movie was screened in the SAARC Film Festival 2014, held at Colombo, Sri Lanka from May 20 to May 25.
A special screening of a movie made on a historical personality, ‘Bhimdutt’ was conducted in Kumari theater in Kathmandu on May 29, 2014. Before screening in Kathmandu, the movie was screened in USA, Hong Kong and Dadeldhura, the birth place of Bhimdutt.

Actress Richa Ghimire and director Shankar Ghimire have become the proud parents of a newborn boy while living in the USA. The couple with their toddler son arrived in USA via Canada to show their movie ‘Tulsi’ and have remained there for some time.

The baby was born at MedStar Franklin Square Medical Center on May 27, 2014 and was named Maharshi Ghimire. Naming of his big brother, Mizas, took the Ghimire couple months of searching.

After the success of ‘Hifajat‘ Aayush and Rekha were considered the hot cake of the Nepali film industry. That was the reason ‘Sadak’ was conceived. The movie was released in January of 2012. The movie is a presentation of Hari Baral for Bindeshwori Cine Arts Pvt. Ltd., Pokhara.
The reception party of Rajesh Hamal and Madhu Bhattarai was really crowded. Being one of the most popular and the longest serving actor in the film industry, he had a long list of invitees. Apart from personals from the film industry, guests from all other sectors like politics and businesses were also invited.
