The Supreme Court of Nepal has found the Bikini Killer, Charles Shobraj’s wife, Nihita Biswas, and mother-in-law, Sakuntala Thapa, guilty on the charges laid by two lawyers Shanta Sedhain and Rajan Adhikari back in August 1, 2010.
Sakuntala Thapa, a lawyer and mother of Nihita Biswas, and Nihita in their after-verdict reaction had accused the lawyers to be corrupt and they were arrested in response to the charges. They were however released after 24 hours.
What do you do when your 7 year-old-kid wants to drive your car?
What if it is an excavator ?
If I were you, I wouldn’t let him drive/operate it. There is a valid reason, an underage person is not allowed to drive. They can do anything with a vehicle but drive. Kids play video games much better than an adult. I know, my 5 year-old can drive a car if I let him. It is nothing more than playing a video game… a real game.
In Nasika 7, Kavrepalanchowk, Dhawa Fanji Lama operated an excavator. That was not surprising. What surprised me more was that, everybody from high level government officials to school teachers and journalists were praising the kid. Continue reading
A demonstration of waterproof laptops in Hotel Radisson reminded me of the ‘amphibian watches’ sold on the streets of Bhotahity.
We have seen a lot of ‘waterproof’ wrist-watches being sold in the streets. These amphibian watches are actually being dipped in salt-water and normal water easily damage them. So, What You See (WYS) is not What You Get (WYG). The difference between the photo above and below: the chicks on the photo above are models on tights and the one below can’t afford to be slim and sexy enough!
In response to our post Explicit websites blocked in Nepal, an international research group has shown interest on monitoring the website blockage in Nepal.
It’s very important that we work to preserve the Internet as a medium of Free Expression and the first step is exposing and stopping governments from engaging in unlawful censorship.
The quote above is taken from an email from the research group. We will talk about it in details, with their permission, in future.
When talking about nudity and explicit contents, these things were never foreign to the people in Nepal. Many temples in Nepal have such carvings of people and animals engaged in sexual acts. These age old carvings were always open to public and the people were proud about the openness.
Have you ever heard of Sudarshan Gautam? If you haven’t, you would better be prepared to be surprised !
Sudarshan is a Nepali guy in his late twenties, planning to climb Mount Everest in 2012. But, this guy doesn’t have hands to hold the rope on those slippery slopes.
That is not all, he also drives car with his feet, does all of his everyday chores without support, and his is hot in Canadian medias these days. Sudarshan is doing fund raising for the Everest summit and other social works he want to do for Nepal.
Sudarshan is all set to drive across Canada with his feet next year, for his fund raising effort.
If you are one of those ‘spoiled kids’ who spend most of their online time visiting explicit websites, be prepared to learn about proxies. That is what Kantipur says:
Internet surfers will soon have to scale the telecom firewall to access p0rn sites in Nepal.
Nepal government is mulling over blocking sex related websites in an effort to reduce Nepali traffic on those sites.
Nepal Telecommunications Authority (NTA) is working is preparing to censor websites through internet service providers (ISP) and telecom operators providing GPRS facility in Nepal.
NTA has been coordinating with the Ministry of Home Affairs, Ministry of Science and Technology and Cyber Cell of the Nepal Police and the preparation on the implementation is expected to be finalized within a week.

There is a sanitary awareness program going on in a remote district in Nepal, Kalikot. The program aims to have toilet for everybody in the district by the year 2015.
To support the noble cause, the district council has formulated a requirement in which every citizenship certificate applicant need to have a toilet at home.
That is not all, every government employee, political leaders, and social workers need to have a toilet at home.
After posters of Hifajat, Tridev, and Ghamanda, poster of the latest release of Gopi Krishna Movies, Farkera Herda has also used Photoshop to add Nepali actress Yuna Upreti’s face on a Bollywood actress’s body.
Is Yuna Upreti’s body so bad that they have to use somebody else’s body on her face?
Let’s look at the poster of the movie:
Now, compare Yuna Upreti in the poster above with the photo of Bollywood actress, Katarina Kaif below. Can you see any difference apart from the face?
A book of haiku poems, measuring three inch in length and 2.5 inch in width (3"x2.5") is probably the smallest book ever published in Nepal. The book named ‘Dahi Chiure’ is written by Iran Rai ‘Sweak’ and is of 67 pages long. The price of the book is set to be Rs. 10.
In the photo above, Baburam Dahal of Rajdhani Daily is posing for photograph while holding the tiny book in between his fingers. (Photo credits – Umash Sherpa, from Facebook)
Sweetheart of international convict and ‘serial killer’ Charles Sobhraj, Nihiti Bishwas, surprised everybody when she announced that she was in love with Sobhraj. 65 year-old Sobraj and 21 year-old Nihita is an odd couple even without the the spicy criminal scene. That was why Nepali director Narayan Puri once told he wanted to make a movie out of their story in 2009.
The ‘love story’ made headline once again when the Supreme Court postponed Charle’s case. The journalists present there to cover the final verdict of the Court had nothing but Nihita Biswas to report about.
In 2008, Sobhraj and Nihita told that they got married on Dashain, the of biggest Hindu festival. But, as no priest or any court papers were involved the marriage proved to be a publicity hoax.
UPDATE: One of the admins of the site hosting Maya’s video has replied to our question about the background of Maya Bazin. Here is what they have to say:
She’s a |**rn girl. That’s why she’s lying. Most girls don’t want to give away their real background so she made something up. ….
I hope the editors in Saptahik have learned the lesson.
Last time, when the infamous sex tape of Namrata Shrestha was covered in various media, BBC Nepali initiated a discussion on the Journalist ethics and responsibility. At that time many media houses, including Kantipur publication, choose to ignore the issue and acted as if the scandal didn’t happen.
The time has changed. It seems, Kantipur is regretting the noble decision it made at that time.
When Kantipur published an interview of an intoxicated and sexually aggressive model/actress, Smita Thapa, we questioned its real purpose. A latest front-page article about a sex film actress, Maya Bazin, has made the interview of Smita Thapa insignificant to talk about.
As far as I know, it is illegal to make or sell sex films in Nepal. Such act is punishable by law. Does that make it illegal to create undue interest on such films in general public? I hope, the law pundits will answer the question in comment.
An office boy, an attendant, or a person kept around for odd jobs – called ‘peon’ in Nepal is taking over the responsibility of the Air Trafficking Officer in one of the airports in Nepal. Government newspaper, Gorkhapatra reported that the peon is performing the job of air traffic controller due to the lack of human resource at the airport.
I wrote about the flood of beauty contests in December when there were 3 beauty contests being held in a week’s time (hat-trick, if you like – Republica Miss Teen, Riddhi Siddhi Miss Teen, and Miss Teen Tamang). After that, we had College Ambassador, Miss Mangol, Miss India Worldwide Nepal, Kid Queen, Miss Lumbini, and announcements of Miss Tamang (canceled) plus combined Miss Tamang and Miss Aryan. That is not all, we have a recent announcement of yet another contest, Miss Angel 2010.
The organizers of Miss Angel believe that the event will be nearly equivalent to Miss Nepal in terms of size! (But, I don’t have any reason to believe it.) The event is going to be held on July 17. They have only a month to prepare for the event and they want it to make a grand event… It however looks better in terms of prizes – Rs. 100,000 for the winner and 50,000 and 30,000 for the first and second runner up is not a bad prize money.
A rough history of beauty contests from November to May (10 contests in 7 months and another hat-trick beauty contest announcement for July)**
The ninth edition of the Miss Tibet Beauty Pageant 2010 kicked off with the swimsuit round on Friday (June 4, 2010), held at Funky Town in Dharamshala, India.
There are only four participants in the contest.
Three judges checked the participant’s figure, confidence, poise and presentation in the swimsuit round.
