Nepali movie ‘Fanko’ is a presentation of HMMT by Padam Gurung. The multi-starrer movie produced by Narandra Maharjan and Shahadev Gautam features some of the most talented artists in the Nepali film industry. The music in the movie is composed by Chetan Sapkota. ‘Fanko’ was released on January 15, 2016. Priyanka Karki’s transparent dress made news at the time of the premier of the movie.
Nepali movie ‘Jhumkee’ has released in theatre on Friday, September 23, 2016. The movie has released at the time when ‘Chhaka Panja’ is keeping its holdover for the last few weeks. The movie featuring the lead actors of ‘Kabaddi’, the script of ‘Jhumkee’ is also written by Ram Babu Gurung. The movie marks the directorial debut of the producer Apil Bista. Apil had previously produced movies like ‘Dashdhunga’ and ‘Ritu’. Apil is a film making graduate.
‘Jhumkee’ is made on the story of the central character Jhumkee, a Tharu woman, during the time of Maoist’s people’s war. Set in Terai area, the movie features Dayahang Rai, Rishma Gurung, Malina Joshi, Manoj RC, Bhola Sapkota and Bijaya Baral.

The best actor award winner Dayahang Rai has also won the award two times. In other two times, Namrata’s partner in ‘Classic’ Aryan Sigdel was awarded. The best movie award was handed over to ‘Pashupati Prasad’.
Two new Nepali movies have released on Thursday, August 18, 2016 a day before the usual release dates on Friday. The movies are released on the holiday, Rakshya Bandhan. Two awaited movies ‘Chapali Height 2’ and ‘Bir Bikram’ are released to take advantage of the holiday. The film producers association had loosened the previous requirements to release new movies only in Fridays and allowed to release on days others than Friday on festival times. Based on the release of films in other days, other film makers have also announced release date that don’t fall on non-Fridays.

The movie ‘Chapali Height 2’ is a sequel of a hit movie ‘Chapali Height’ released three years ago. The sequel however doesn’t feature any actors of the original movie. The film award being distributed by Gopi Krishna Movies, NFDC National Film Award 2016 nomination was released in a program held in Kathmandu. The Award ceremony will be held in Ashoj. It’s interesting two movies released on the same day – ‘Premgeet’ and ‘Classic’ were nominated in the most number of awards – 11 categories each. ‘Pashupati Prasad’ and ‘Woda Number 6’ each were nominated in 8 different categories and ‘Kabaddi Kabaddi’ was nominated in 7 categories.
If common saying is to be believed, wives are the other half of a person. We know the actors very much, but it seems, we don’t care much of the other half of the celebrities. While preparing the list, I felt like adding the names of some additional actors at the end after talking about the top 10.

The winners of the National Film Award 2073 (2016 AD) is announced. The winners were selected from the movies released in 2072. ‘Pashupati Prasad’ won three awards, ‘Classic’ and ‘Dreams’ won two awards.

Dayahang Rai was paid Rs. 10,000 for the role in his first movie, ‘Anagarik’. Actor Aryan Sigdel had worked for free in ‘Kismat’. The producer Chhabi Raj Ojha hadn’t paid any money to Aryan. Similarly actor Jiwan Luitel also worked for free. He also debuted in Chhabi Raj Ojha’s movie. A presentation of Black Horse Pictures and a production of Cinema Arts, Nepali movie ‘Kabaddi Kabaddi’ is the sequel of hit movie ‘Kabaddi’. Like the previous part, this part is also set in Naurikot Village in Mustang – about 400km away from Kathmandu. The story of this movie is set in the time one year after the events in the first sequel. The executive producer of the movie is Nischal Basnet. Nishchal Basnet has also given voice to one of the songs in the movie. ‘Kabaddi Kabaddi’ was released on November 27 2015. Nischal Basnet and Priyanka Karki are featured in cameo roles in the movie.
This week on January 15, 2016 two new Nepali movies are releasing in theater. Both the movies – director Sabitri Khatri’s ‘Kafal Pakyo’ and Suwarna Thapa’s movie ‘Fanko’ were highly publicized movies. Both the movies were shown to the Nepali viewers in foreign countries before their official release. The movies are being released on Magh 1, the Makar Sakranti festival in Nepal.
The movie ‘Kafal Pakyo’ features Jiwan Luitel, Barsha Raut, Mukesh Acharya, Laya Sangarula and Uttam KC in leading roles. The movie directed by Sabitri Khatri features the music of Bikash Chaudhary, script of Pradeep Bhardwoj and is made under Red Panda banner.
The movie is made on comedy theme. The movie shows the travel from Kathmandu to Gulmi in romantic way. The Actor Jiwan is featured as a village guy and actress Barsha Raut is featured as a modern tom-boy. The relationship between the two is the whole movie.
The red carpet premier of Nepali movie ‘Fanko’ was held on Wednesday, January 13 in Kumari theater in Kathmandu. In the event, the cast and the crew members of the movie joined the guests to watch the movie.
The movie has been highly promoted and a few premiers were done in some cities in Europe earlier. The movie directed by Suwarna Thapa is produced by Narendra Maharjan, Sahadev Gautam and Padma Gurung. The movie featured Priyanka Karki, Dayahang Rai, Keki Adhikari, Saugat Malla and Anup Baral in lead roles. The movie is made on the story of characters of living in highway for money.
The winners of the Digital Cine Award 2072, organized by Chhaya Chhabi Creation was announced in a special program held in Kathmandu on December 21, 2015. In the award ceremony, the movie ‘November Rain’ bagged the most award – a total of eight awards including the best actors, best actress, best director awards.
While ‘November Rain’ became the best movie, ‘Bhimdatta’ was awarded the Critics Award and ‘Sunpani’ became the Special Film. Late actor Shree Krishna Shrestha‘s movie ‘Kohinoor’ was awarded the public choice award. Producer and film distributor Gopal Kayastha and actress Gauri Malla were awarded with Chhaya Chhabi Film Artist honor award. Film journalist Dabbu Chhetri was awarded the Chhaya Chhabi Film Journalism Award of value Rs. 7,777.
